For the past seven years, children have been taking their chidon final tests in Crown Heights.
The final is the climax of 6 months of learning, during which the chayolim have learned their book in 4 parts. Over the past few weeks, the chayolim have reviewed their entire book, and today they took a grand final on their entire book.
Today, over 4,000 children around the world took their chidon finals in their own schools.
In Crown Heights, hundreds of boys and girls, in Oholei Torah, Lubavitch Yeshiva, Darchai Menachem, Bais Rivkah, Bnos Menachem, and Bais Chaya Mushka schools, took their final tests.
“It’s mind-boggling to think back to a few short years ago, when 45 chayolim sat down to take their final in the Jewish Children’s Museum,” marvels Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum, Director of the Chidon.
The chayolim who receive a 60% will earn a chidon certificate. Those who earn 70% will receive a plaque. 80% a stage plaque. 90% a stage plaque and a medal. The awards will be given out during the grand chidon event.
This year, the chidon event will be held on the 12th of Sivan, giving Headquarters ample time to make and ship all the awards to the chayolim around the world.
“Mazal Tov to all the chayolim on your achievements,” Rabbi Weinbaum says. “Now, it’s time to get started on your next book.”
