Crown Heights Shmira:
We received multiple reports of a food stamps scam recently taking place in Crown Heights.
Due to the ongoing scam, Shmira recommends the following tips:
– Change your pin immediately.
– If the card reader doesn’t look right, physically check to make sure it isn’t a skimmer.
– Cover the pin pad when entering your pin
– Check your account for any inconsistencies
If you’re a victim of this scam:
– Report the fraud to EBT
– Contact Shmira immediately so there’s a chance to figure out which store is responsible.

Dozens of cars have been vandalized in the vicinity of Eastern Parkway – St John’s Place, between Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues. Dents and scratches have been reported.
Please pay attention to and report any suspicious activity in the area.
And car break-ins aren’t going away. The most common reason a theft has occurred is due to the vehicle being left unlocked. As the perpetrators are all repeat offenders, arresting them is not the simple answer. If we all lock our cars, then hopefully this trend will end.
Very recently though, there have been a few thefts from cars involving the windows being smashed. The difference here is that the suspect isn’t from the neighborhood and is driving in to do his crime.
He likes to come in past midnight and look into target cars with a flashlight before choosing his loot.
One specific location that has been targeted is near Carroll St and New York Ave. Remember to not leave any valuables in your car.
PSA:
When driving with children in the car, make an extra effort to make sure they’re seatbelted and not climbing around inside the car.

How can one check the balance AND recent transactions of their EBT food stamps to see if anything was taken?

The store that deliberately allowed a “customer” to wipe many CH residents EBT is,
Paloma Food Market
6900 Woodland Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19142
Obviously that owner is “in” on it, as there is no way they provided that much merchandise in return
How does one possibly get reimbursed if they got scammed?
Is there a NYS link to fill out if someone was the victim of the EBT and food stamps fraud?

Your not finding “quick & efficient response” with these guys… talking from experience here. Always steps behind, rarely sealing the deal.
We need to be more self sufficient and stop relying on others
These people are terrifying to our neighborhood. They don’t respect us and they are not scared of us. We need to turn that around.
