Suny Downstate Medical Center and Ahavas Chesed are organizing what is considered the first Brooklyn Diabetes Club held in Crown Heights on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 4:30 pm.
A full course of Kosher diabetic food will be provided at 271 Kingston Avenue (corner Lincoln Place), Brooklyn, NY.
“I welcome the residents to come and meet your friends and neighbors while learning how to manage or prevent diabetes,” Rabbi Avraham Lider, Executive Director of Ahavas Chesed and organizer, told COLlive.
Lider will be greeting the crowd along with Assemblyman Karim Camara of Brooklyn Diabetes Task Force, which is supporting the new club.
Dr. Agnes Gliwa, Assistant Professor of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Poriatrist Dr. Michael Siegel will be addressing attendees.
Crown Heights family practice physician Dr. Eli Rosen will be giving greetings.

Unless theyve created food with Insulin in it…theres no such thing as diabetic food.
that shliach is Shlomo Levi from Argentina and not “rabbi” Avraham Lider dont take the amazing work of Shliach Shlomo Levi and make like Avraham Lider is doing it!
this picture was taken at the Ahavas Chesed center, the group had a meal there, it has nothing to do with this upcoming event, except that Rabbi Lieder has become a center for all people that need help, and the soup kitchen is just amazing.
What Shlomo Levi, a shliach from Argentina, is doing there? the people in the pic are his mekurovim from Argentina
Simply great! Long awaited!
