Every night of Chanukah large crowds gathered in Southgate, London, to take part in the Chabad of Southgate Menorah Lighting on Cockfosters Road, minutes away from the constantly busy M25.
The line up of VIPs included the President of the United Synagogue Mr. Stephen Pack, world famous Chazan Rev. Dov Speier, Head Shliach of Lubavitch UK Rabbi Nachman Sudak, local dignitaries, Mr. M Vincent, Mr. J Platt and others.
With many flavors of doughnuts, colored glow sticks, and Dreidels, people joined the lively singing and stayed a while, talking, eating and enjoying the special feeling of celebrating Chanuka, proudly and confidently, with true Jewish warmth in the cold English streets.
Some were celebrating at the large Menorah lighting for the first time – others made sure not to miss out on the annual celebrations every night.
Jewish people of all ages and walks of life enjoyed the unity and ambience – all left with the light of the menorah burning brightly inside, taking the message of Chanuka into the cold winter night and the months ahead.
Mr. Pack thanked the local Shliach, Rabbi Hirshel Kesselman, for making this menorah lighting possible, and for all the work Chabad does in the area.
