Council Member and Queens Borough President Candidate Peter F. Vallone Jr. visited the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Cambria Heights, Queens on Tuesday.
Vallone travelled to pay his respects as well as learn more about the beloved Rebbe. Tens of thousands of people travel from all over the world to pay homage and receive inspiration from the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
While there, Vallone met with Rabbi Abba Refson, Director of Chabad at the Ohel, and discussed the legacy of the Rebbe, the importance the Ohel has on the community and the significance of faith. Being a religious man, Vallone also expressed great appreciation of the people who travel from far and wide to say a prayer at the Rebbe’s final resting place.
Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr. represents Astoria, Queens and the surrounding communities and serves as Chair of the Public Safety Committee. As Chair, he successfully led the fight against having the 9/11 terror trials in New York City, and has fought to stop cuts to the NYPD, add more officers to local precincts, and for New York City to get the money it deserves from the state and federal governments.
Dubbed ‘The Man Who Hates Graffiti’ by the New York Times and ‘Graffiti Public Enemy No. 1’ by the Staten Island Advance, Vallone has waged war against graffiti vandals.
He has been honored for his work to protect our most vulnerable, which includes awards from the Council of Senior Centers and Services of New York City, the Immaculate Conception Youth Program (ICYP), the League of Humane Voters, and countless other organizations.
Wants the Jewish vote. I always felt that G-d fearing, religious people meet on the same level of holiness, even if they come from different paths.
