Dani Dayan, the Consul General of Israel in New York, met with Chabad officials at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights on Monday morning.
He was welcomed by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice-Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and Chairman of Chabad on Campus and the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI).
Dayan came to discuss Chabad’s important work on college campuses and Chabad’s recent Land and Spirit trip to Israel, which is the largest single group trip to Israel of any organization.
Present were Rabbi Efraim Mintz, Executive Director of JLI; Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos Suite 302; Rabbi Mendel Kotlarsky of the Kinus Office; Rabbi Dubie Rabinowitz, Director of Sinai Scholars; Rabbi Shmuly Karp, Director of JLI’s Land and Spirit trip; and activist Rabbi Yaacov Behrman.
Dayan expressed the importance of Jewish education for youth and reviewed several youth initiatives produced by Merkos 302 and JLI.
It was an “excellent meeting,” Dayan tweeted, and added in reference to the Rebbe, “Since I first saw the Rabbi almost 40 years ago I am a great admirer of Chabad. I was humbled by the warm welcome.”
Dayan will be featured in the upcoming CKids’ Shark Tank program, part of the monthly Chabad Children’s Network club which now engages Jewish kids in 140 cities.
This is a beautiful initiative, one that we can all be proud of.
That said, Can we create C-Teen type programing for the children that are here in Crown Heights? After all, Charity starts at home..
