After the passing of community doctor, Dr. Moshe Feldman obm on Thursday, many from the Chabad community have been sharing memories of the beloved pediatric specialist who also was one of the doctors who cared for the Rebbe and Rebbetzin.
Dr. Feldman was a beloved community doctor for decades, who was always available to care for others, no matter the time or day. He was a devoted and skilled physician who cared for generations of patients in his 48-year career.
Many of his patients and fellow community members shared comments on the article about his passing, remembering him as a genuine, caring ‘rofeh yedid’ who was devoted to his patients.
“Dr. Feldman…was a kind sensitive person. He was genuine and caring. He treated his patients as if they were his own children… A true yiras Shamayim. Always gave over a good vort, especially with gematrias. He will be greatly missed, a big loss to klal Yisroel,” wrote Esther Fass.
“Dr. Feldman was a doctor in the truest sense of the word. He not only went above and beyond in his utter service and devotion to his patients, but he took the time to listen and to hear all they had to say. He taught and guided every step along the way. As a new mother, and through every stage of life along the way, he was there, advising, guiding and teaching. His patience was profound. His bitachon and emeskeit were admirable. When Dr Feldman said all is good, it WAS good!! What a tremendous loss to the world!” wrote Chaya M. Klein.
Rabbi Zalman Shneur shared:
For the 15 years I was lucky to daven near Dr. Feldman in 770 for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, I saw him as a true chosid, with dedication to our Rebbe, he loved davening in 770 and would not consider going elsewhere. (The last couple years because of COVID he davened elsewhere. I met him after RH and told him I missed him, he said he really wanted to daven in 770, but the community doctors were advising against it and to keep the message consistent he davened elsewhere – a true mentch).
I saw him totally dedicated to his patients, not often does one hear a cell phone being answered on Yom Kippur…. One year he almost missed his Aliya on Yom Kippur ad he left 770 to tend to an emergency.
Most of all, I saw him as a family man, he proudly showed his receipt to the many seats he bought in 770 to be able to daven surrounded by his children and grandchildren. And this leads to my parenting lesson.
About 12 years ago on Yom Kippur, during kriyas Hatorah – just imagine the scene: 770 is packed end to end KAH – Dr. Feldman leans over to my Shver, who was sitting at the edge of the bench, and tells him (and I quote) “My grandson told me that he saw smoke coming out of the fan, and because you’re closer to the fan, please keep on eye out, and let me know.” And he subsequently went back to following the kirah.
When I heard that, I thought Dr. Feldman lost his mind. If he believed that there was smoke coming from the fan, this is a national emergency, and what would two spaces on the bench help…
Only recently as my own children are getting older ka”h, did I realize the brilliance of Dr. Feldman. Often we dissmiss our children’s thoughts and ideas as silly and crazy. We don’t take them seriously. For Dr. Feldman, he took his grandson seriously even if it meant putting his own “reputation” on the line.
The family of Dr. Feldman requests that people who have stories and memories of Dr. Feldman please send them either to drfeldmanmemories@gmail.com or WhatsApp to 718-753-5356.

when he prescribed medication for me he would later call me to ask if the pharmacy delivered it?
And when I would say not yet, he would say I will go pick it up and deliver it to you.
And when I could not come to his office, he would say I will come to your house…and he did, many times, and then speak to my family in Israel and Miami to tell them not to worry…..a Malach
I called dr feldman from israel and we spoke by phone about what to do about fasting when i was on antibiotics for a wound infection. He understood he was still my doctor years after i made aliya. My daughter worked for him, and on cold nights he insisted on driving her home so that she shouldn’t have to hv be walk in the cold .
I’m not a New Yorker and not even an American, but I had the opportunity to be in Dr Feldman’s office and I was impressed by what I saw on a wall, there was a sign that said that the points of accuponcture of the emunah in Chinese medicine are exactly the two places where we wear tefilin on the left arm and the top of the head!!
