Crown Heights residents hurried Monday to obtain copies of the COLlive Community Calendar for the year of 5771 which featured an exciting lineup of people.
Much speculation preceded it release, as talk circulated over who were chosen as one of “The Faces of Crown Heights,” divided into 12 categories that represent life in the neighborhood.
Calendars were delivered to homes and given out on the streets (you can pick up a copy at Mendy’s Deli or Kahn’s Superette on Kingston Avenue or Empire Kosher on Empire Blvd).
Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Medrash Oholei Torah, was happy to learn of the inclusion of an esteemed colleague in the category of Torah.
And Fishel Brownstein, member of the Vaad Hakohol, was proud to learn that a colleague of his was chosen too.
Rabbi Yerachmiel Benjaminson, Executive Director of the Jewish Children’s Museum, found one of his many employees in the list as well.
Its a breath of fresh air to see the Lubab creativity here in CH. It is normally seen in work that shluchim do around the world for the benefit of sponsors or politicians with respect to creative expression and professional presentation. COL, you guys are awesome, great material and up to the minute news. You are not scared to be original and risky, that’s what i call “Art”. We were instructed by a senior rov not to include one as the Rebbe’s holy image is desecrated all too often lately on literature that does not make it to ‘shaimos.’
It looks stunning. How can I get one?
