A growing industry of Chinese Auction fundraisers being held by schools and organizations has led one Crown Heights moised to look for a new niche and as yet untapped crowd.
The result: A first-ever Auction exclusively for children, boys and girls of all ages.
“Parents always hear kids say, ‘It’s not fair, why can’t I go to the Chinese auction?’ So, we created one just for them. Lubavitcher Yeshiva heard the children’s requests and now it is a reality,” said coordinators Lizzie Rosenberg and Alyson Feldman.
“Children will have a chance to put their tickets in the boxes themselves, just like a grown up auction,” they told COLlive.com.
This auction’s funding is going directly to the Lubavitcher Yeshiva Roof Fund, to better the playground environment for the students, they added.
The ULY PTA, in conjunction with the Yeshiva staff have been working tirelessly to make sure the school’s play-areas are up-to-date and safe for the children that need to play on the Yeshiva roof top.
At the Sunday, June 19 (Sivan 17) event, between 4-6 PM, all prizes will be for kids’ summer fun, just in time for the summer vacation.
Admission to a spectacular professional laser show and a delicious ice cream party will also include a free $10 raffle ticket. Drawing the prizes will be teacher Rabbi Zalman Karp.
“The tickets are very affordable, so kids can use their own Ma’sser money,” the coordinators said.
The Yeshiva suggests that children 6 years-old and younger are accompanied by a supervising older child or adult. Assistance will be available for children who cannot write their own names.
The event is completely separate seating and separate prize areas for boys and girls.

What a great idea. Now my kids can stop bugging me about not being allowed to go to a chinese auction. Those prizes look awesome, can’t wait!
wow lizzie when do you find the time?ur amazing!hatzlacha in all you do.
ULY is most probably the only yeshiva in the neighborhood that does not put parents through the ringer when it comes to tuition. . Let’s show some appreciation by supporting the yeshiva and having fun at the same time. The funds raised will be going directly to build a new roof that is in desperate need of repair.
