Residents of the Falkland Islands voted almost unanimously to stay under British rule in a referendum that has inflamed a long-running sovereignty dispute with Argentina.
That might have just added to the excitement in the nearby Argentinian capital city of Buenos Aires over the visit of Lord Jonathan Sacks, outgoing Chief Rabbi of Great Britain and a prolific thinker.
Hosted Tuesday by Chabad of Argentina, Rabbi Sacks attended a breakfast meal with the local Chabad Shluchim and many of their supporters at one of the most prestigious hotels in the city.
Welcoming him was Head Shliach Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, who spoke about the upcoming day of 11th of Nissan, one which the Rebbe was born and his contribution to the world at large.
Rabbi Sacks has enthralled the crowd with stories and guidance he merited to receive from the Rebbe over the years. He said those timeless insights have led him in every step in his life, from his youth to the rabbinate in England.
During the event he was presented by businessman and philanthropist Eduardo Elsztain with a Spanish edition of the Tanya which has been inscribed in honor of his visit.
