Chayenu has recently gone through an upgrade.
The weekly Torah study booklet for English speakers, used habitually by thousands around the world, has begun the new Jewish year with upgrading its mobile app.
A team of developers led by Moshe Gorin of Gorin Systems are responsible for the launching of version 1.3 of the app which has amassed over 5,000 active users on Android and Apple devices.
The most exciting part of the upgraded app is the inclusion of the 3-chapters-per-day learning cycle of the daily study of Rambam’s Mishneh Torah. The new learning cycle began this month.
Yossi Pels, Executive Director of Chayenu, said the addition was done “due to many requests over the past few years” and thanks to the generosity of Yaakov and Avigayil Rosenblatt and family.
Chayenu worked with both Moznaim, publisher of the English Mishneh Torah and the app developers, to present a side-by-side Hebrew-English learning experience (even the Hebrew is vowelled).
Pels said the goal was to “fulfill the Rebbe’s directive of learning daily Rambam at the highest level” and that they are planning to add “a lot more exclusive content in the future.”
Asked about including the 3 chapters of Rambam in the printed booklet version, Pels said it “still remains a practical impossibility,” but “if there is a strong interest, we will consider printing a 3 perokim insert to supplement the current edition.”
The Chayenu App is available in both Apple’s App store and Google’s Android Play store. The app is free. There is a charge for “premium content.”
