A large group of people flew this week to Ukraine to commemorate the 199th yahrzeit of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chabad-Lubavitch and author of the Shulchan Aruch and Tanya.
Chassidim from Israel were joined by Chabad Shluchim from Ukraine in the town of Haditch, the resting place of the Alter Rebbe after his passing in 1813.
Leading the pilgram were three notable Mashpiim: Rabbi Mendel Vechter of Kiryat Malachi, Rabbi Chaim Sholom Deitsch of Jerusalem and Rabbi Yair Kalev of Kfar Chabad.
On the night of 24 Teves, the Alter Rebbe’s niggun Daled Bavos was sung, followed by reciting of Tehillim and Maane Lashon, as customary. Prayer notes “panim” sent from around the world were read as well.
COLlive.com was told that some are planning to continue to Mezibuz to spend Shabbos at the gravesite of the Baal Shem Tov, while others will remain for Shabbos in Haditch.
