One must be careful when speaking to children to not make something bigger to them than it was in the first place. First find out what they know b’chlal and how they seem to be dealing with it. Sometimes “therapy” or ‘awareness talks…’ can be the very things that make the kids start thinking, hold on, is there something that I’m supposed to be scared of now… When they otherwise would have heard the news on some level and then ‘moved on’….
