While most students are enjoying their spring break in the Bahamas, Barbados, on a cruise ship or other beach, a group of University of Florida students chose a different trip.
Chabad UF offered a guys’ Journey of the Soul Shabbos at the Rebbe’s Ohel trip.
The students left the Gainesville, FL campus with their Shluchim, Rabbi Aharon Chaim Notik and Rabbi Berl Goldman and arrived in NY on Thursday night.
The Chassidic experience started early Friday morning with a full day schedule in Crown Heights; Davening in 770, and having an opportunity to enter the Rebbe’s Room, followed by a visit and tour of the Rebbe’s library, WLCC etc.
After arriving at the Ohel on Friday afternoon, the students had time to prepare and write their Pan and then enter the Ohel.
The students were excited to see and spend Shabbos with hundreds of Chassidim – Anash, Bochrim, and other groups of Jews of all types.
A fully prepared and planned Shabbos schedule had every moment filled and utilized to Daven, Learn and Farbreng.
Rabbis Notik and Goldman said that “Shabbos at the Ohel was uplifting and inspiring to all. It is our ultimate Shlichus and merit and there is nothing more gratifying than seeing students grow in their Yideshkeit and connection to the Rebbe.”
After Shabbos, some of the students shared a sentence or two about their experience and feelings, about being together at the Ohel.
“Spending Shabbat at the Rebbe’s Ohel was an uplifting experience for me as a ‘gator’ as I truly got to understand the impact the Rebbe has on every Jew across the country. Seeing how many times the Rabbis were stopped on the street and greeted by their fellow Jew shows how strong the Chabad community is and how I get to be connected to that community as a Jewish gator. This was a unique and spiritually strengthening experience that I never would have thought would be part of my college experience.”
“Shabbat at the ohel was an amazing experience. It was very uplifting and inspiring to spend Shabbat here with our UF community and I will carry many lessons and memories from this weekend with me for years to come.”
“Shabbos at the Ohel was a profound experience. With every daven, meal…I felt HaShem’s spiritual fire.”
“Shabbat at the ohel was one of the most impactful weekends I’ve been able to experience…”
“I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to come on this trip. It was an incredible experience and being able to connect with one another at the ohel and experience it all together had a deep impact in all of us. Thank you and I hope that this trip can be repeated for many years to come bh.”
The Journey of the Soul Shabbos at the Rebbe’s Ohel trip was sponsored and organized by Chabad UF.
