all those defending rabbi simpson
January 1, 2009 8:13 am

please write your names and stop being anonymous, it is understoon why someone attacking him and meshichisting would want to remain anonymous, so they will be allowed into 770 and not beaten by the people that support rabbi simpson. i have been personally attacked in front of rabbi simpson and he didnt open his mouth to protest, if he is as you claim such a prominent leader within chabad, why was he silent? It is hard to be a secretary (a physical position) after the Rebbe is no longer here physically. His job was to deal with letters to and… Read more »

lets all not forget that for some strange reason rabbi krinsky went so quickly from being the rebbes driver to “heading the world wide headquarters of lubavitch” were we all just not thinking all those yrs. ago???!!!! what happened to all the choshiva eltera chassidim that used to do what krinsky does now???? these are the questions that we need to ask ourselves so that the truth can finally come out!!!!! and please ask!!! .

“I think only part time”

Thats a typical Krinsky line that he used in his discracefull court cases to discredit Rabbi Simpson

There was no such thing as part time in Mazkirus – all mazkirim worked FULL time wheather it was in Merkos, in the librarayor in a diffrent office or from home – their job was 24/7

So Mr. 26 before you write something “foolish” get you facts straight

hatzlocho Rabbo

Bottom line
December 29, 2008 5:33 pm

Rabbi Sholom Mendel Simpson was appointed by the Rebbe in the Famous Tzavah – that krinsky claims he lost- to Run Merkos

Rabbi Krinsky was named by the Rebbe to run Machne Israel

we have NO RIGHT TO CHANGE the Rebbes will

there is nothing else to say about this

Chabad Lubavitch
December 29, 2008 4:48 pm

No one has the authority over the name Chabad or Lubavitch as stated in the legal proceedings of the library court case and in the Rebbe’s well known talk about who are his Shluchim. Rabbi Krinsky or Kotlarsky were not nominated by the Rebbe to direct the Shluchim or Merkos in his will. Only Rabbi Simson was nominated in the will. The will was validated by the rebbes head Chabad Lubavitch elected Bais Din.There is no Chabad world headquarters or world leadership it belongs to All the Chasidim. The rebbe was the world leader. There has been no election of… Read more »

politically correct
December 29, 2008 2:10 pm

Rabbi Simpson is a most respected and non-political person around today in Lubavitch

He goes for whats right and not for whats “politicaly correct”

gossip, an interesting read
December 29, 2008 1:39 pm

When Matthew Wagner quotes “chabad sources in israel” we as yidden have to remember to never pass judgement , especialy since he provides no real proof to what he is saying besides for , again, “chabad sources in israel”. This also questions how reputable this reporter is . Any one who belives these stories without proof is only looking to read gossip, which makes for an interesting story. And to comment #1, If only you can understand how important and special Rabbi Simpson was to the rebbe . To call him “A self proclamed emmisary” should make you ashamed of… Read more »

All this Sinas Chinom is bringing about more and more Chilul Hashem and Chilul Lubavitch.
The media defiantly didn’t differentiate between the Chabad Houses in India, and we DEFIANTLY shouldn’t!
To #1 – Your comment did not do anything to bring the Geulah closer, on the contrary….
To COLLIVE: if you’re able to do something about it… maybe bring together the Chabad leaders for some Achdus…

Let the record state
December 29, 2008 2:01 am

A Shliach means that you are the Shliach of someone – and in this case you represent (and are) the Rebbe in your Mokom Hashlichus This is not a Bombay issue – this is about how the Rebbe set up and structured Shluchim and Shlichus to represent him and be Mesaken Oilom Bemalchus S-D-Y- We could and should love every Jew and every Chosid and bring them closer to Yidishkait but that does not mean that all the rules change you become a Shliach and that we are Mafkir everything holy This is not an issue about Rabbis Kotlarsky or… Read more »

Who writes this cheese?
December 28, 2008 8:40 pm

“the mainstream leadership of Chabad does not recognize him.” when did this happen? when suddenly did it happen that someone needs to get “permission” or “authority” to do something pure and good?! we do youn insist? well guess what, we already have authority! the rebbe authorized us. “I received recognition from Rabbi Shalom Mendel Simson of the Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch,” of course he did! rabbi Simpson recognizes the good this man is doing! rabbi Simpson who spend countless hours at the rebbes side recognizes that the rebbe would be proud of what this chossid is doing. He receives my recognition… Read more »

Many people have been appointed by the Rebbe
December 28, 2008 8:35 pm

Does that mean the a Shliach in Israel can appoint a new Shliach in Manhattan?

If Rabbi Simpson was appointed for secretarial work does that make him an authority to decide policy???

A few things About Rabbi Simpson You might want to know:
December 28, 2008 6:52 pm

Before anyone says anything bad about what is going on, think before you write, and first find out the facts then we can talk about this Person and his job. A few things About Rabbi Simpson You might want to know: 1) Rabbi Simpson was appointed Secretary of the Rebbe and officially of Merkos… we all know what he did before gimmel tamuz and we all know what he is doing now, continuing being faithful to the rebbe and doing his job, as well as a Rov in Brighton Beach (also sent by the Rebbe). He is not the FORMER… Read more »

matthew wagners sources???!!!
December 28, 2008 5:39 pm

Matthew wagner does not seem very reputable when he quotes “chabad sources in israel” with what they say about rabbi simpson , without real proof. A person who choses to believe this without real proof is more interested in gossip which makes for interesting reading . How sad for these people who thrive on this . Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Rabbi Simpson , may Hashem give you the strenghth to look over these remarks and all others that people try to pull you down with and may you have the strenghth to continue with all the great work that you… Read more »

Rabbi Simpson is the most non-political person in Luabavitch, i dont know how you keep shlepping him into all this dirty machloikes and stupidity –

stupidity
December 28, 2008 4:05 pm

These types of statements against other shluchim are apalling , especially in light of the tragedies that occured in India. Is the only reason they reacted was because Holzbergs chabad houes was under Kotlarsky? And if he would have been one of the other 12, what would have been Krinskis reaction? We dont know those people , as they have nothing to do with Chabad. Your stupid infighting is ridiculous . The outside world does not even understand the difference. To any outsider Kupchick and Holzberg both represent Chabad, and thats the way it should be. Why dont we ever… Read more »

Is their a reason why this article was written? Obviously not for a possitive reason. Are we so naive to believe that this one man can know all this?

I heard that the Rebbe say Chassidim should have a sign on their home that it is a Bais Chabad? Does anyone know the source for that?

he definitely doesnt have the authority to appoint anyone a shliach-
there is a seder in lubavitch!!

Rabbi Simpson
December 28, 2008 2:05 pm

I dont believe Rabbi Simpson send out any Shluchim, as far as I understand Rabbi Simpson is very satisfied with the work Rabbi kotlarsky is doing

Those of you that were around Gimmel Tamuz know EXACTLY what authority Rabbi Simpson has

if a guy has a minyan in town and teaches chassidus does that mean that his light he brings is unsactioned unauthorized by rabbi kotlarsky means u cant bring people together for good things?

Consider This
December 28, 2008 1:04 pm

I love the way these people that dont begin to know anything about politics (Boruch Hashem) say their own stupid things.
Commenter 1 how bout take a look at the Tzavah (the last one before Gimmel Tammuz)
Please dont make this into a whole argument just bringing other perspectives to light

How do YOU know what authority S.M Simpson has?

to 1
December 28, 2008 12:32 pm

sorry to break the news, but simpson does and can say who is chabad and who is not, his problem was and is that he does things on his own, without talking to the other members of the board, he needs the vote of the most on the board which he does not have!

Authority
December 28, 2008 12:18 pm

I am not sure if Rabbi Simpson gave any permission to Rabbi Shaul to open a Chabad house, but I CAN tell you that Rabbi Smpson has clear authority directly from the Rebbe Just to remind the older Chassidim and to let know the New ones that after Gimel Tamuz the Rebbes will – “Tzavah”- was brought to the table The Rebbe clearly stated that Rabbi Simpson is the Menahel of Merkos. Rabbi Krinsky was called to a din Torah many times but refused to come -This is the basis of the whole machlokies in Lubavitch today It actually has… Read more »

Chabad house or missionary house?
December 28, 2008 11:54 am

If it isn’t recognized by the current leadership of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, then it isn’t a Chabad House.
Rabbi SM Simpson has no official appointment as any sort of authority. Unfortunaltey there are a few of these self proclaimed emmisaries who do things willy nilly without any authority.
