After more than a decade at its iconic location in Westmount Square, Chabad of Westmount has acquired its own premises in the heart of historic downtown Westmount.
This new property will accommodate the exponential growth of Chabad Westmount, and its bold vision for a dynamic center of Jewish life, learning and connection.
Chabad of Westmount, led by Rabbi Yossi and Devorah Shanowitz, has been on the vanguard of integrated and innovative Jewish outreach since its inception, reaching out to multiple demographics with inspired, and avant-garde programs and initiatives.
Today, with the unprecedented challenges facing the Jewish world, a cutting-edge center to celebrate Jewish identity, heritage and interactive participation is needed more than ever.
The signing took place at KRB Avocats with Chris Karambatsos and associate, Vincent Robert presiding.
Amongst the witnesses to the signing were renowned Canadian philanthropists Sharon Azrieli, Martin Banoon, Michael Cons, Murray Dalfen, Daniel Revah, Dianne Richler and Richard Stern. A special thanks to Marc Minzberg and David Ederhy for leading and facilitating this historic transaction.
Even the pen used to sign the deed had a story: a cherished Goldcross belonging to Murray Dalfen, which in turn, belonged to his father, Joe Dalfen, z”l.
A special letter, to be read at the Ohel of the Rebbe, was also signed by all in attendance. Of special significance was the Hebrew Date of 2 Iyar, which marks the birthday of the 4th Rebbe of Chabad, and his mantra of bold initiative taking: L’chatchila Ariber.
Amidst exclamations of “Mazel Tov!” The deal was inscribed by Rabbi Yossi Shanowitz and Rabbi Ariel Stern on behalf of Chabad Westmount. Joyous dancing and good wishes ensued, with celebration and raised hopes for a better, stronger tomorrow.

May you outgrow this building too. Hatzlocha
