Just a stone’s throw away from Finland’s Presidential Palace sits the RoYAL Hall, a majestic banquet space that hosts elegant events, high-end functions and milestone celebrations for the local community and visiting dignitaries.
Last night, the Jewish community of Helsinki held a Siyum HoRambam celebration on the night of Yud Gimmel Iyar, the Yarzeit of the Rebbe’s Brother, Reb Yisroel Aryeh Leib obm for whom the RoYAL Hall was dedicated.
In the summer of 2022, the Sami and Charlotte Rohr Chabad Centre, led by Shluchim Rabbi Benyamin and Itta Wolff, was opened in the prestigious Harbour District of Helsinki, Finland.
The main hall of the Chabad House was dedicated by Rabbi Dov and Rachel Greenberg, the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Stanford University in California.
In choosing to dedicate the hall as the RoYAL Hall reflecting the acronym of the Rebbe’s brother’s name – Reb Yisroel Aryeh Leib, Rabbi Greenberg shared that he felt that knowing how much the Rebbe appreciated when Chassidim would name their children for his brother, and do other peulos in his memory, not enough has been done in that spirit, and this will hopefully be a permanent space of Torah and Tefillah as a merit for him.
Every morning a sizable group of Yidden in Finland get together for a 6:30 am Shiur in Rambam, and this event was a historic gathering celebrating their completion of the Rambam, an initiative so dear to the Rebbe, in a sapce dedicated to the memory of the Rebbe’s own brother.
A special guest for the evening was Rabbi Michi Piekarkski, one of the Rebbe’s Shluchim in Tallinn, Estonia, who took the two-hour ferry across the Baltic Sea to be able to participate in the event. The many Hebrew speakers in the Shiur were inspired by the warm and uplifting message that Rabbi Piekarski brought with him.
“With the help of Hashem, this event will strengthen and encourage others to join in to the daily learning, bringing continuous Nachas to the Rebbe,” said Rabbi Wolff.

The Rebbe also had a brother, Dov Ber, HY”D.
Wasn’t he murdered by the Nazis, Y”SH.
Anyone murdered because he/she was Jewish
is a Kadosh. So, let’s not forget about him either.
