One of America’s most celebrated hotels, The Plaza, will play host to the Gala Dinner of Chabad Lubavitch of Westchester County in New York.
Located at 770 Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, the hotel was designated a New York City Landmark in 1969 and is listed on the Register of Historic Places.
The lavish event on Tuesday June 18, 2013, will be celebrating the activities of Rabbi Velvl Butman and the Shluchim in Westchester County.
It will also be remembering the upcoming chassidic holiday of Yud Beis Tammuz when the Previous Rebbe was released from Soviet prison for his Jewish efforts.
“Man of the Year Award” will be given to Brooklyn financier Simon Jacobson, who has been involved in many charitable causes through the newly established B. Jacobson Humanitarian Fund and beforehand.
His father, Rabbi Betzalel Jacobson OBM, who passed away a few months ago, was a proud Chabad chossid and a dignified Torah scholar. He was known as a man of high principles with a kind heart and a loving sensitive nature.
Another Crown Heights-connected honoree is Dr. Larry Neuman, who was raised just a few blocks away from Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway and learned in the Crown Heights Yeshiva.
He has vivid childhood memories of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, particularly Simchas Torah Hakofos, the inspiring dancing and celebration at 770 Eastern Parkway, and the joyous singing of the famous Chabad song “Uforatzto” during the Rebbe’s Farbrengens.
A family practice physician and the Medical Director of Urgent Medical Care-a chain of ambulatory care centers, he is responsible for the care of thousands of patients annually and has made time to support Chabad in Westchester County for nearly 20 years.
Other honorees include hedge fund manager Fabrice Haddad, attorney Milton G. Strom, CEO of Eisner Media Michael Eisner, business executive Sir Steven A. Roberts, Michael Caridi and Joseph Moskato of Seahawk Capital, and Moshe Neuman of circlezon.com.
It sure promises to be a night to remember.
