In the spirit of “VeYaakov halach ledarko”, Chabad catering to IDF soldiers, directed by Shliach Gutman Eliahu from Kfar Chabad who works with the IDF all year round providing for the religious needs of the Chabad soldiers, presents a summary of projects carried out with the soldiers and commanders of the IDF during the month of Tishrei 5783 – Shnas Hakhel.
During the month of Elul, as per the Rebbe’s request, dozens of Chabad IDF soldiers blew the shofar for thousands of soldiers in IDF bases around the country.
In the days before Rosh Hashana, thousands of soldiers and high-ranking officers heard the words of the Rebbe and his greeting for the new year in dozens of the army’s events and ceremonies.
During the Tishrei holidays, gift cards and food boxes were distributed to needy families of IDF soldiers.
During the Tishrei holidays, Chabad Chasidim led prayers in IDF bases with the soldiers, at their request. Many yungeleit walked from Kfar Chabad to the nearby bases and back on each holiday, to bring the holiday to them.
During the Ten Days of Repentance, Chabad held a special evening – the first Hakhel Kinus for army soldiers – in Kfar Chabad with a BBQ feast and a performance by shliach R’ Victor Atia from Chevron.
In the days before Sukkos, another unique and exciting project was held – where dozens of soldiers came to Kfar Chabad to help build sukkot for the elderly or disabled residents.
Before and during Sukkos, IDF soldiers were provided with lulavim and esrogim.
During Simchat Torah, Chabad Chasidim visited IDF bases to pray with the soldiers and perform hakafot and dance with the Torah scrolls and the dear soldiers.
When Simchat Torah ended, senior officers from the IDF took part in hakafot shniot in Kfar Chabad.
And finally, a rare and exciting event of hakafot shniot took place in an air force base where dozens of fighter jet and Apache helicopter pilots came with their families and danced with the Torah scrolls with great excitement.
“There are no words to describe the great nachat the Rebbe must have from all these special projects in the IDF,” said Rabbi Eliahu. “May this year truly by ‘Tehei Shnat Pedus Geulaseinu!'”
