A record crowd of over 700 people attended the 27th Annual Lighting of the Giant Menorah placed by Chabad of Hong Kong, headed by Rabbi Mordechai and Goldy Avtzon.
The event began with a carnival featuring a Chanukah themed photo booth, Apple center with iPads loaded with Chanukah activities, face painting, Mitzvah Bounce and other holiday crafts and games.
It coincided with the 5th Annual Lamplighters awards in memory of Rabbi Gabi and Rivky Holtzberg HY”D aiming to teach the young generation that their kind and good behavior is the only answer.
The ceremony awarded 30 children whose parents recorded their random acts of goodness and kindness in day to day life.
The menorah was lit by Jeremy Amias, a representative of the Trustees of the Hong Kong Jewish Community.
