A car slammed into a tree on Francis Lewis Boulevard in Queens on Monday, near the Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center.
ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported that snow was coming down hard Monday night before switching to sleet and rain in the early-morning hours Tuesday.
In Manhattan and other parts of New York City, road conditions were dangerous overnight, with multiple car accidents and stranded buses in the snow.
The driver in Cambria Heights lost control of his vehicle in front of the homes that house visitors to the Rebbe’s holy gravesite in Old Montefiore Cemetery.
Bochurim told COLlive.com the driver was a 26-year-old African American male.
“We heard a boom,” one of them said, “and we ran outside to see what happened. We immediately called 911 who sawed the car open in order to release the driver, who was trapped.”
They said the driver was seriously injured. The road was closed off to traffic and the driver was taken for medical treatment.
Thank you so much for that reassureance.
I just want you to know that he was not alone in his final minutes he had caring people that tried to assist him we feel your pain and your loss, so sorry
No he wasn’t a Jew,he was a father and somebody that myself and many others loved, this is devastating, keep his family and child in your prayers, nobody deserves this but he really didn’t,you’ll be missed by many.
RIP young man. You are home.
where is the car
was anyone else in the car?
From the was the car is messed up, he must have been going at lest 30 MPH.
While we are sorry for him, it is a lessen to not go that fast when it is snowing. You don’t get there any faster.
Your comment’s stupidity is mind blowing. A man dies and you write that it’s not so sad because he was driving wild. If I were deserving death every time I drove unsafely, I’d be dead many times over. If you were dead every time you wrote an insensitive dumb comment…
was anyone hurt?
was it a jew?
probably didnt have snowtires & he was flying down F Lewis
actually its not so sad, yes a man did die and i feel bad for him, but according to police report, he was driving 72mph and was going to smash into the cheder, so that tree kinda helped
May he have an immediate recovery.
its amazing that this happened by the rebbes kayver. that guy was as good as dead. it was the rebbes holy bracha. it was an amazing miracle.
Sad.
