Can One Brick Transform a Future?

He sits in his office after a long week. The burden of all his responsibilities weighs heavy on him. He feels exhaustion wash over him like a tidal wave. His life has become a routine of self-gratification, chasing more money, more materialism; but he is left feeling empty. Out of nowhere, there is a knock on the door. A young teenager stands at the entrance of his office. He has a smile that somehow overflows from his face into every corner of the room. The young man introduces himself as a student at Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Queens. He offers to help the man perform a mitzvah called Tefillin. The kindness and warmth of the Yeshiva student shines such a bright light that it becomes impossible to refuse. All at once, the man feels an intense connection with Hashem. Suddenly, his day has hope, joy, and comfort.

This is a true story. It has happened to hundreds of people who were on the receiving end of the students of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim. Over and over again, the lives of the people that the students have impacted have become brighter. The beauty of Torah and Mitzvos has been conveyed to thousands of people throughout the entire local Queens community. The embers of light that began 11 years ago with the inception of the Yeshiva have transformed into a raging fire of G-dliness emanating from Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim. It has become a central institution for the neighborhood and the whole surrounding area.

In the last few years, the Yeshiva was told that the building they had been using was being sold. They were faced with an eviction that was going to take place at the end of this month. The administration of the Yeshiva searched high and low for a suitable building. Because it was imperative for them not to compromise on the quality of the yeshiva’s home, they were unsuccessful in finding a satisfactory replacement building. As the days turned into weeks and months and they began to run out of time, the Yeshiva was at real risk of being shut down.

With not many options left at their disposal, the Yeshiva turned to Hashem with faith and belief that He would not let the Yeshiva, which is such a necessary force of spirituality in the area, get shut down. In a miraculous answer to their prayers, the Yeshiva was suddenly offered the opportunity to buy the building. The yeshiva went from being at risk of getting shut down to the sudden possibility of being able to purchase the building and conduct necessary renovations. Suddenly, a critical situation turned into one full of hope and potential; from trying to survive to the possibility to thrive- a real ‘Ve’nehapochu!”

In order to obtain the building, the Yeshiva must raise a large sum of 10 million dollars. This money will not only provide them with the ability to buy and renovate the building but remain operating. This is where you come in.
