This summer you can bring Shabbos joy to a Crown Heights family.
A summer Shabbos can be a lonely time for many. The Crown Heights neighborhood empties as vans and SUVs loaded with supplies head to the mountains or other summer adventures.
Then there is Shaina, a divorced mother with two children who could barely afford a small apartment, never mind to rent a country home. With soaring gas and food prices, Shabbos at home in the “shchuna” each week becomes impossible. Many families, and hard working couples remain in the city and are forgotten during summertime. They use their last pennies just to send their kids to camp.
While you are enjoying your time away this summer, make sure to remember those left behind.
Please remember your friends like Shaina who need you now more than ever. The very least we can do as a community is to ensure that everyone in our community has the basics they need for their family.
You can help a family in need. You can provide food for their Shabbos tables, nosh for the kids and some decadent desserts for the adults. You can bring the joy of Shabbos to families in our community who have no money for food at all.
