36 hours of pure concentrated fun, 4 locations, over 40 campers.
Lman Achai is a summer camp for boys from secular families to give these children the greatest summer experience ever in a frum Torah environment. Over the summer, the boys grow in their yiddishkeit and leave with a commitment to do more and be better. Lman Achai instills in these neshamas an everlasting Jewish pride that stays with them throughout the year.
The dedicated staff come for the summer, but their commitment and love to the campers doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year, lman Achai has Shabbatons all over the country to re-energize and rekindle the excitement of yiddishkeit in these precious children.
Recently, in a span of just a month, Lman Achai held four Shabbatons in four different locations. The first one was held in Miami. Counselor Yehuda Blausenstien was flown in from Israel by one of the camper’s parents for the event. It started off with picking up their dearest counselor from the airport in a convertible to driving four hours, pumping to Jewish music, all the way to Orlando where they would enjoy a full day at the amusement park. That Shabbos, they again teamed up to join the Shabbas group at The Shul where they davened and had an amazing raffle. Overall, it was a fantastic Shabbos and it was hard for the campers to say goodbye.
The following week there were two Shabbatons for the campers in the tristate area. Thanks to Rabbi Brikman, elated campers from the younger division had an incredible Shabbbos at Chabad of Seagate. Boys from the older division had a smashing time at Rabbi Raskin’s Chabad house in Brooklyn Heights.
After an inspiring Shabbos, where the boys had a chance to keep a full Kosher Shabbos once again, it was time for some mad fun! The younger division had a ball getting delicious slurpees while the older kids went on an awesome ice skating trip! After having an absolute blast, the children met up at a staff members home for a grand pizza party Melava Malka.
The Jewish pride in the air was palpable! The campers all left with smiles on their faces, reinspired and rejuvenated to do more mitzvos.
Two weeks later, on Shabbos Chanukah, L’man Achai took it to the west coast. They had a smashing Shabbaton at Rabbi Levin’s Chabad house in Paulo Alto, California. It started off with two staff members driving up the campers from Temecula and L.A. to Paulo Alto. The campers had the best time over Shabbos, catching up with their counselors over fun activities and amazing food. After Shabbos, the teens met up with the local cteen group in a Limo Jeep for a marvelous menorah parade. Then, Sunday morning, the campers’ smiles’ we’re from ear to ear as they jumped and bounced at a super fun trip at a trampoline park. Following that, the campers got to build their very own menorahs after picking up the supplies in Home Depot. To top off this sensational day, the campers went to the community center and joined Rabbi Levin and his community for a grand Menorah lighting. It was a crazy 48 hours of immense fun, laughter and inspiration.
Thank to all the dedicated and hardworking staff that made these Shabbosim a reality. A big yasher koach to Rabbi Brikman, Rabbi Raskin, and Rabbi Levin for hosting. And thanks to everyone that contributed to this worthy cause. Thanks to them, more than forty kids had the opportunity of observing Shabbos properly.
