Camp Emunah Honors Friends

As Camp Emunah in upstate New York enters its 58th summer, the directors hosted their 8th annual Empowerment Breakfast.

Awards where given to various individuals in the region who give of themselves to the broader community.

Rabbi Shea Hecht, chairman of NCFJE who also heads the Chabad girls camp, spoke about Emunah’s history and thanked the community at large for being their support and friendship.

“As we celebrate this milestone we take the opportunity to thank G-d for His years of kindness and wish you all a gezunte zummer – healthy summer,” he said, with his children Rabbi Yitzchak Hecht and Hanoch Hecht beside him.

Awards were given to:

Leadership Award to NYS Senator, William J. Larkin: For his many years of leadership and public service. His friendship and helpfulness that goes beyond the Jewish community is very much appreciated by all New Yorkers.

Public Safety Award to Detective Lt URGENT Task Force, Edwin A. Brewster & to Detective Lt URGENT Task Force, Timothy J. Matthews: For their tireless achievements in bringing calm, safety and protection to our community by not letting drugs and gangs take over our neighborhoods.

Public Service Award to Woodstock Town Supervisor, Jeff Moran: For his years for public concern and dedication. His pleasant way of doing business really makes a difference.

Empowerment Award to Town of Wawarsing Supervisor, Leonard M. Distel: For his caring and dedication to the community. His problem solving attitude really shows.

Community Service Award to Dena Crane: For all her selfless community work especially for her involvement with the Ulster County Jewish Women’s Circle.

Kindness Award to Butch Dener: For all his community involvement including his recent initiative of sending members of the New Paltz firefighters to Israel for a joint training and volunteering.
