The Israeli daily Haaretz says Chabad officials in Israel are “furious that Shefa Yamim Exploration and Mining, which is searching for diamonds near Haifa, has been using the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to promote its business.”
“The Rebbe never said there are diamonds near Haifa,” the newspaper quoted an unnamed source. “This is just how one businessman interprets things he once said.”
Shefa Yamim, run by Lubavitcher Avi Taub, was founded in 1998 based on a comment the Rebbe told then Haifa Mayor Arie Gurel.
“In Haifa, there is a sea,” the Rebbe said when Gurel visited Lubavitch Headquarters 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn.
“One shouldn’t become intimidated by something that is deep. This is the uniqueness of Haifa – that it has a sea and that there is a valley and in the valley are precious stones and gems. The Holy One, Blessed Be He, did a wondrous thing; He concealed them in the depths of the earth, and in any case, in the depth of the river.”
This quote appears in all of the company’s promotional material, especially in the sales pitch for investors. Taub said the remarks convinced him to look for diamonds near the Kishon river.
Two other Lubavitchers on the management team are Dr. Shlomo Kalish, a leading technology investor in Israel and Rabbi Dovid Nachshon, head of the Mitzvah Tank operation in Israel.
But the newspaper said “sources at Chabad” say the the company’s interpretation is misleading.
According to the person, the Rebbe “wasn’t talking about diamonds found in the depths, but rather about a completely different meaning – a spiritual meaning.
“This is an image that is found in very many of the Rebbe’s past writings. Someone interpreted this as diamonds, but it has to be remembered that the Rebbe didn’t say this in an unambiguous way.”
Haaretz reporter Eran Azran notes that another conversation the Rebbe had with Kfar Chabad Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi “bolsters the claim concerning the presence of precious stones.”
No further details were given about that conversation.

Quote from the Rebbe:
“I am asking of shpitz Chabad [those who consider themselves the most elite Chassidim] not to act foolishly and add their own explanations and interpretations to my words, e.g. that I really meant such and such, etc…I say what I mean, and there is no need for their help. At least they should not do the opposite of helping…

To say that he’s using the rebbe as a sales pitch is one thing.
but to say that the rebbe didn’t mean diamonds but rather something else, is compete deception of what the rebbe said.
That doesn’t mean if you invest in the stock you’ll make money, or that this company will find the treasure, that’s up to you to gamble..
The only issue with using the rebbe is, that they are making it sound like the rebbe is telling the company “keep on digging you will find”
When the rebbe only said that there exists diamonds.
Who exactly are these unnamed “Chabad officials?” The Rebbe made it unequivocally clear that “unnamed” and “unsigned” statements are called “pashkvilen.”
If they are so official why are they hiding their identities?
And above all, what reputable news outlet reports on protests from unnamed officials? What stops anyone from just venting if they don’t include their names?
duude that guy talking at 1:32 sounds like mbd!!!!! really!!!!!!
I am sick of these “Chabad spokesman” especially when they stay nameless….With that said even if the REBBE did bless the company the REBBE didn’t necessarily bless its shareholder’s. #DueDiligence
Ain dvar yotzi meday peshuto!!!
The ones that “understand” what the Rebbe “meant”…
A chosid’s emunah has already prvoen that the Rebbe is right, and some chabadniks can’t stand to see a meshichist sucseeding, so they bash the his emunah.
Com’on!
once Avi Taub will find the diamonds and have money everyone will say how the Rebbe’s prophecy is coming true.
I wonder why you didn’t post anything about this when the Israel media said good things about Shefa Yamim and maid a big Kidush Hashem. is it because he is a Mishichist?
I will be surprised if you put this comment in.
its all politics
I”yh with their bitochon they will be extremely successful
watch the video, see for yourself the the Rebbe indeed did say that there are precious stones there.
don’t worry if he makes it big every Lubavitcher will be at his dor step. Don’t burn your bridges. right? no?
