If you’re like most Jewish folk out there, you love to score Mitzvah points just by the click of a button. But what if you could use your phone for more than just sending a “get well” text or learning with your study-partner? What if you could do larger-than-life type of Mitzvahs, like, oh, say…build the Beis Hamikdash?
Introducing the “3rd Temple iPhone app.” You can now fulfill Rambam’s positive Mitzvah #20 by building the Beis Hamikdash straight from your iPhone.
The app is Crown Heights-born Seattleite Dr. Joseph Trachtman‘s innovative response to the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s directive to study the structure of the Beis Hamikdash every day.
In the Rebbe’s Sicha on Shabbos Parshas Balak and Shabbos Parshas Pinchas (5751), he states, “At present, this study should be carried out in anxious anticipation that the Beis Hamikdash will soon be rebuilt. In the present context, we should study the Beis Hamikdash with the awareness that in the very near future, we will see what we are studying about in actual reality.”
“Building the Beis Hamikdash is a daily activity,” says Trachtman, “With the app, you now have a tangible and fun way to prepare for the 3rd Temple by building it every day.”
The app is in the form of a game and asks players to place key Temple artifacts in their proper place. When the player places the structures in their appropriate place the Beis Hamikdash fills with applause.
When the player needs help, simply pressing the “back” button will review the Temple floor-plan. When you complete the “building,” the screen goes blank and the sound of the shofar is heard, followed by thunder, lighting and the descent of the Beis Hamikdash.
To get the app, simply go to your app store and search “3rd Temple.”
Is there an app for the Droid ? 🙁

i always thought the way to build the 3rd holy temple was by doing Mitzvos and studying torah 😉
It is great that these things can be used for kiddusha.
awesome for those of u with iphones, using it for kidusha. i wonder if this really counts toward building, as does studying building…one would think so.
