Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson hosted his first Jewish Heritage Celebration that also celebrated the holiday of Chanukah on Monday.
Held at the Luntey Commons of Long Island University, the party brought together Jewish community leaders and political activists from neighborhoods such as Crown Heights, Williamsburg and Boro Park.
“Rich in cultural history, our celebration recognizes the important contributions of our Jewish community,” the District Attorney press office said in a press release.
The event acknowledged the public service of Mark Feldman, Senior Executive Assistant District Attorney “for his continued distinguished service to the people of Brooklyn.”
Following the lighting of the Menorah and singing by the Yedidim choir, Feldman thanked Thompson for the honor and said he had fond memories of growing up in Crown Heights and learning at the Hebrew School of the Brooklyn Jewish Center, now the home of the Oholei Torah Educational Institute.
