The Brooklyn Artisan Bakehouse is moving away from its original location on East New York in Crown Heights, Elan Kornblum of Great Kosher Restaurants reported.
The bakeshop was opened by Levy Krinsky several years ago after a bread-making hobby. It was located at 529 East New York Avenue, next to the Aliya Institute and around the block from Bais Rivkah on Lefferts Ave.
Krinsky was working in real estate at the time when the eatery turned into a full-time gig. In an interview with the K Factor podcast of CHYE, Krinsky said that when he opened, his goal was a cafe specializing in the finest homemade bread topped with the finest ingredients.
In addition to Crown Heights, the bakeshop has since opened 2 additional locations at 1371 Coney Island Ave. and 30-30 47th Ave in Queens, NY.
“The popular bakery and cafe will be moving into their digs over the next couple weeks,” Kornblum said.
The new location of the Crown Heights location will be at 665 Empire Blvd, corner of Albany Ave in close proximity to many apartment buildings and private homes.
It will allow them to offer Grab n Go and casual seating for 30 people, event space and additional seating for 80 people, and additional outdoor seating, weather permitting.
The bakeshop has not responded to a request to confirm this information.
I don’t think this is a smart or fair move. Kosher town cafe across the street will be very negatively affected
Agree
Agreed. I do think that kosher towns food though is a lot better and easier to eat than Artisan’s…
I think it’s a very smart move, the Bakehouse is unique and it’s been so far from the center all this time. CH is full of kosher cafes, this wont have a negative impact at all
wow
Levi krinsky is not the founder of artisan bakehouse, he took over the shop from a couple that got divorced
How will this affect kosher town cafe?
Cause it’s a lot of the same menu 100 steps away from each other!
This is really not okay; making noise next to residential buildings
What noise? A city is full of shops.
Ask the neighbors. They party till late at night
Ask the neighbors. People party there till late at night. It’s also very unfair and disrespectful to kosher town
The noise that it’s literally invading in people’s backyard. And is already causing issues the music from the party hall
Looking forward!
I wonder what will happen at the old spot, I loved going there for coffee
So looking forward for the bake house to be in a more central location!! It’s seriously the best cafe ever with so much nutritious and delicious variety
Near koshertown? Really?
Thank you for giving us a special place . Looking fwd!
They say no one can take away what’s yours. There is enough buisness for both and it will bring a lot of customers to kosher town as well ! They will both be so busy ! You will see !
Hashem has enough to give everyone .
Why is it okay to move so close to kosher town cafe? Why does the hechsher allow this?
Meshaneh Makom Meshaneh Mazal!

Artesian bakehous is delicious bakehouse.
Koshertown and bakehouse have different chefs, so the menus will still be different.
I absolutely love this cafe! It’s my favorite spot in Crown Heights. Their warmed up cinnamon buns are out of this world!!
So glad it will have more space for sit down.
Wishing them all the best and huge success.
The owner is the nicest! Always treats everyone with a warm smile.
The Bakehouse is definitely one of my favourite cafes in CH but it was always such a shlep to go. I’m looking forward to it being more central.
Great food! Great vibes! Love their pastries and sandwiches. Nicest owner! We made great parties at their location.
…stands an even nicer wife! 😉
Wishing both Levi and Mussia much success.

the og place is good stuff; nestled in the corner of crown heights, away from everybody. honestly not in the mood of it being closer up.
Whenever we visit Crown Heights, we make sure to visit Bab!!! Best food around! We recommend to all. The owner is always so nice and friendly. The Baristas are super sweet as well. The Pesto Panini is my favorite!
This was the only restaurant/cafe at the old location, right near the Bais Rivkah and Aliyah. There is no place to eat or hang out near here. They always had plenty of customers here. They were a center of action and meeting up with others It is really a loss that they decided to move, I can’t figure out why.
Looking forward to the new menu and rumor has it they installed a pizza oven! Can’t wait 🙏🏻
Best place to eat in Crown Heights!!
Koshertown has been convenient location wise but not at all affordable and this was even before inflation
If their prices reflected our shechuna’s needs we would care more about them
Besides, their service is terrible and the coffee isn’t good at all
…. then I know what you’re talking about.
The bakehouse and kosher town bring such different qualities and experiences to the table, does anyone else not understand the comparison or negativity about the vicinity? If you’ve experienced both, I don’t think you’d be spreading negativity mindlessly. Also since when does Kosher town hold events and last I checked the Bakehouse is not a supermarket. They serve different purposes with different focus and vibe and wether or not they attract the same consumers, who ever decided that there is a limit to how much success goes around? Abundant mindset is key! Wishing all the best to this new and… Read more »
is it open still if I want to go to the place on east ny?
Although the BAB food is good, I for one do NOT like trying to eat in the dark. If they will have takeout, I might purchase once in a while.
