Sterling Electronics, a Crown Heights appliance and electronics store which gave many Israeli guests their first taste of what America has to offer, has changed ownership.
Yosef Brikman, who is in importing and exporting, sold the 15 year-old business he once owned with his cousin Mendel Brikman to Simcha, the store’s general manager for the last decade.
Conveniently located on Kingston Avenue, the store was popular among residents for major and small appliances and among Israeli bochurim looking for the newest electronic gadgets.
In recent years, Sterling developed their photo printing department (from film to digital) and sold housewares as well.
But Simcha, who asked his surname not be mentioned, told COLlive.com that while he will keep the Sterling name, he plans to give the store an overall makeover.
“We always had houseware, but they sat in boxes, hidden,” he says. “What we are doing now is offering a better instore experience. We’re going to have everything on display, making it an upscale one stop shop.
“We are changing the whole look of the store and are going to have kallah specials with Corelle dishes, bakeware, flatware and stemware. It will be cleaner and will have wider aisles even for double strollers,” says Simcha, a father of 9 from Kensington, NY.
He says they will also be offering free delivery, no minimum credit card charges and a better return policy.
Rafi Greenstein, promoted to manager of the store, says he expects the makeover to be done by Chof Beis Shvat, when thousands of Chabad Shluchos and women come to Crown Heights.

Thank G-D we have this service in our neighborhood! No need to travel to BP when time is of essence.
Will there be specials or sales from time to time?
Much hatzlocho and thank you.
ch housewares sells all this stuff allready? is this a electronic store???
Simcha,
Loads of hatzlacha in this new endeavor!
Your former neighbor in BP, MB
Brikmans: The finest people around!!!!!!
Brinkmans r great!!! They should continue to do well.
I actually would rather see crumbs if it was used before- bc if it was cleaned up and sold to me “like new” I wld never have known it was used- cld pose a Kashrus issue… Besides, I don’t buy used kitchen appliances
I think the “tone” of your comments are a little sharp.
I feel sure you did not find crumbs in the microwave. No need to give a negative message.
We wish everyone much hatzlocha in the new improved store.
Please no refurbished stuff!
are they still selling electronics, or just housewares?
Why cant a store in CH stick to what their name is (ex. fruit store selling cereal and a bakery selling canned goods)????
Funny,
I walked by today and I did a double take, I was able to see the store through the first window!! I looked inside and I thought “this guy just did something good for his business’
I didn’t even know that it was new management. I see you’re already on the right track.
Hatzlocho
Mendel and Yosef Brickman are real Menchen! Good luck to them in the future.
hope they move on to bigger and better…
Always experienced great service at Sterling! Much Hatzlacha to the Brickman’s and Simcha in all their endeavors.
Mazal Tov!! I thought Ben-Abu was going to buy it!!!
Only more and more good Mazal Simcha!
Rafi – you da man!
I have shopped there a lot recently .simcha and Rafi are both real nice people to deal with.
Excellent customer service from Mendel Brikman, he’s a real mentsch. I’m sure the new owners will continue to serve Crown Heights very well. When I remodelled my kitchen I bought all my appliances there & I was delighted with the quality, price & service.
Much Hatzlacha to the new owner & all the very best to Mendel.
i agree with # 7 its not like thier owning a store in secrecy they should say the owners name
I had dealings with Simcha over the summer and he was the easiest person to work with regarding purchase of an item I needed to special order. Customer relations par excellance!
How can it be that Benabou ignored this opportunity?
congrats Raphi! we always new you can do it.
btw Raphis great…
P.S. There is really only ONE Raphi
regards from your biuddies @ CLA
once purchased a microwave and there were still crumb’s in it, at least clean it before you resell it
Whatever problems the store had in the past, I can only say 1 thing RAFI is extremely honest, and now that he’s officially the manager, you can expect the service to be 110% improved.
is the best and most courteous person on Kingston I wish him Much hatzlochah!!!!!!
Whats the guy hiding from? Why can’t he reveal his last name?
please dont sell those. or damaged products like the store has done in the past.
Lol! I like the line “and among Israeli bochurim looking for the newest electronic gadgets.” cause nobody else is looking for the newest gadgets at sterling..
Haven’t you noticed Itzik only deals with food?
ma kara? ben abo couldn’t buy it?
lol
Mazel Tov to Rafi!!
