A special Hakhel senior citizens party was held at Mill Hill Shul in London recently. More than 200 elderly people turned out for the event.
The Rav, Rabbi Yitzchok Schochet attended with his wife and five month old daughter.
He told the assembled: “One of my great joys is visiting the elderly. You have a wealth of life experience, some amazing stories and there is so much you can teach the next generation.”
He also spoke about the tragedy in Mumbai and said his dream is for his children to grow up in a world of tolerance, peace and stability.
“At the end of the day, that surely is our collective dream – to see our children and grandchildren walk tall and proud in their yiddishkeit, in a world that respects everything we stand for.”
