One of the most famous and successful advertising campaigns in the history of advertising is being imitated by a Chabad House in Virginia.
“Diamonds Are Forever” was developed and launched by DeBeers back in 1938. It helped the diamond supplying company enter and win one of the world’s largest diamond markets – the U.S.
Rabbi Yossel Kranz, co-director of Chabad of Virgina, is hoping to rub off some of that success to his campaign “Judaism Is Forever,” calling on locals to come hear the Ten commandments on Shavous day.
It is based on the Chasidic thought that the Torah is the wife of the Jewish people.
His version of the man-woman themed ads is the line “The 3,321st Anniversary Ring – Nothing Says I Do Like Coming To Shul At 6:30 In The Morning.”
Here is the text that accompanied the ad:
My dear wife,
Remember our wedding day? The world stood still as I descended from heaven and chose you to be my beloved. With Mt. Sinai as our chuppah and the Torah our ketubah; it was the happiest day of my life. Man, you were so beautiful.
I admit, we’ve had our rough patches, but who else do you know whose marriage has lasted for over three thousand years!
I’ve been thinking: May 29th is our anniversary. Let’s renew our vows.
Nothing fancy – we’ll get together at Chabad (I know the rabbi there), listen to the Ten Commandments and enjoy a quiet breakfast together.
Is it a date?
