Shiur Gimmel bochurim of Oholei Torah visited the city of Dnepropetrovsk for a two-day uplifting experience.
The Bochurim davened in the Golden Rose Synagogue, then met with Head Shliach and Chief Rabbi to Dnepropetrovsk, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, who told them about the Jewish history of Dnepr, the city the Rebbe grew up in, and where the Rebbe’s father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok was the Chief Rabbi over eighty years ago.
The Bochurim did Mivtza Teffilin in the streets and sang Nyet Nyet Nikovo and other nigunim, on a boat that took them around Jewish sites in the city, including the Jewish Museum.
When the day was almost over, the Oholei Torah Bochurim joined with the students of Dnepropetrovsk’s Tomchei Temimim Bochurim for a farbrengen in the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva. The nigunim and Chassidishe stories went on late into the night.
The city name was changed to Dnepr (Dnipro) by Ukrainian parlament a few weeks ago.
