Three yeshiva bochurim from the Chabad Yeshiva in Migdal Haemek were attacked Friday night by a group of non-religious youths.
Just after 1:00 a.m. on Friday night, a group of 15 youths were loitering near the Chabad yeshiva building in Migdal Haemek, when they attempted to engage a Lubavitcher Bochur in conversation.
The bochur realized that they were trying to provoke him, so he did not answer, but the group attacked him anyways, kicking and punching him.
After a while, the bochur was able to get away, and ran towards the yeshiva building. The group followed and began throwing stones and bottles at the building. This woke some of the other bochurim and some of them ran downstairs to see what the noise was, and asked the group to quiet down.
This request caused the group to become very angry, and they started hurling large rocks at the bochurim. One of these hit a bochur in the face, causing heavy bleeding. Another bochur was hit in the mouth, breaking his teeth, while a third bochur suffered injuries to his ribs. One of the bochurim was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Afula, where he received stitches to his face before being discharged.
After the ambulance, a police van arrived on the scene. The policemen asked for statements, which the bochurim would not give on Shabbos due to the chilul Shabbos that writing them down would cause.
The injured bochurim were asked to give statements at the police station after Shabbos, and the roshei yeshiva encouraged them to do so. One of the bochurim is still in the hospital, undergoing further tests for a possible broken rib.
