Chassidic yeshiva students were brutally beaten near the holy gravesite of the Baal Shem Tov in the town of Mezhibush in western Ukraine, this past Friday night.
Walking back from davening in the Heichal Habaal Shem Tov, the synagogue and center near the cemetery, the bochurim encountered 7 non Jewish locals.
“It looked like they were drunk,” one of the bochurim told bhol.co.il website. “They cursed us and spit at us.”
He said that when he and his friends tried to keep a distance from them, heading to their lodging, the group began violently beating them.
“I got a punch in my face which broke my glasses and the same happened to two of my friends,” he said and noted that they were suffering from bruises and cuts.
A security guard of the Jewish center heard the commotion and called the police. The attackers fled and an investigation was opened.
It is a shame in this world that jews or anybody for that matter to have to restrict gatherings to certain times of days because of fear. Learn to fight! Hide weapons. I’m not saying kill people, just defend yourself!
disgusted!
