Kurrenci.com, the ambitious digital money start-up that is poised to completely change the way consumers shop online has quietly introduced an online donation platform that may be its most exciting offering to date.

With Kurrenci, any charitable organization can now accept donations online completely free. What’s more, utilizing Kurrenci’s patented rates mechanism, any individual or corporate sponsor can leverage individual donations to be worth more to the charity.

In its first weeks since going live, dozens of synagogues and Jewish centers across the country have utilized the charity feature to raise much needed funds through Kurrenci.

“I recruited a few friends and family members who are rabbis to pilot the program,” says Nathan Hecht, CEO of Kurrenci. “They liked it so much they told their colleagues and we’ve been barely able to keep up with the requests.”

Initially intrigued by the ability to accept payments online for free, these organizations were particularly eager to utilize the rates mechanism. With this feature, any individual or corporate sponsor can set a rate at which they will ‘match’ for a specific charity in a given time-frame.

For example, a sponsor that sets a rate of 1.25, commits to adding 25 cents for each dollar donated during the fundraising campaign. This allows for individuals or businesses to rally their social networks and communities to maximize the impact for the charity. It’s ‘donation matching’ for the masses.

“Kurrenci is truly unique in the benefits that it provides for charities – I don’t see why an organization would accept donations any other way,” says Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Director of the Shluchim Office, the global resource center of Chabad-Lubavitch.

Donors also benefit from the many other things that can be done with Kurrenci. Consumers can shop with Kurrenci while getting a better value or gift it to a friend. Kurrenci can also be earned or exchanged for; with many more exciting features on the horizon.

“We’ve developed an online ecosystem for money where you always get a better value,” says Hecht.
