Amidst all the Purim excitement and frenzy, Rebbetzin Esther Gitlin and her girls in the Bat Mitzvah Club at Chabad of Markham took a bit of time off to bring a little Purim cheer to the elderly at the Leisure Word Senior Living Centre.
The girls prepared special Shalach Monot for each resident. They sang Hebrew and even some Yiddish songs, danced, mingled and spoke with each resident. It was truly heart warming to see how these girls brought light, joy and smiles to everyone in the room.
A special thank you to Arlene Miller who played the piano and the woman of the Shaar Shalom sisterhood who joined the Chabad girls in this great mitzvah.
“The Bat Mitzvah Club is just one of the myriad of amazing programs and activities we offer here at Chabad of Markham,” says Rabbi Meir Gitlin. “We have Torah Tots for the little one and our Kolel Levi Yitzchok program for Seniors. There’s our Hebrew school and Youth clubs for elementary students, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Discovery clubs, and Post Bat Mitzvah programs. We have Teen Tuesday for grades 9-10 and Torah 4 Teens for grades 11-12. We have ongoing Young adult programs and Shabbatons and of course regular Adult Education classes – And that’s just to start.”
