Clients at a centrally located JPMorgan Chase bank in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood were notified that the branch is stopping its operation.
“We will be closing our branch at 1128 Eastern Parkway and consolidating with our branch at 257 Utica Avenue in Brooklyn,” the bank said in a letter.
Marni Chua, Market Director – Banking at Chase, said the brach will be closing on Thursday, May 12 at 4:00 PM.
“If you currently use the night deposit at the Eastern Parkway branch, you may continue doing so at the Utica Ave. branch,” Chua wrote to customers.
Chua said comments on the proposed branch closure may be sent to Washington, DC, but “the Comptroller of the Currency does not, however, have the authority to approve or prevent the branch closure.”
The bank is located a few blocks from Lubavitch World Headquarters and the bustling Jewish residential and commercial area of Crown Heights.
Moshe Frank of the Leviim Gallery, which specializes in Judaica art at 266 Kingston Avenue, says he has been a customer of the Eastern Parkway branch for over 5 years.
“We hope they will expand their Utica operation to handle more traffic from the merge,” Frank told COLlive.com. “The wait time in the existing location can be long at times. I’m not sure how they will handle the merge.”
A request for comment from Chase was not answered.

There is a Chase Branch on Eastern Parkway and Bedford Avenue.
In any case Chase is lousy because they only have One teller in each Branch and want you to use the stupid oversized inside ATM machines for all transactions.
And so they should stay open for your sake
The Banco Popular bank across the street is ALSO closing down and a Modell’s is moving in it’s place.
They steal points from people!
