300 members of the Bais Shmuel congregation gathered on Motzei Shabbos for their first annual Melava Malka dinner at Chabad of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn.
Participants enjoyed live music by the Raya M’hemna Band and hilarious entertainment by Mentalist Marc Garfinkel.
Moshe Pinson, Director of the Shul and Rabbi Yossi Jacobson, the shul rabbi, spoke as well. Rabbi Jacobson sang an entertaining rhyme about the shul members, emphasizing their great work together.
Chazan Yossi Raskin sang “A yiddishe Mame,” dedicated to the women of Bais Shmuel, and a choir performed chabad nigunim.
A special video presentation was shown with a nostalgic look back at farbrengens and simchas of the shul members.
To all the critics of Bais Shmuel;
name me another shul who will call and email, and beg you to come to a minyan for a year straight?? only bais shmuel!!! they even sent a member to come wake me out of bed…(he didnt succeed) no other shule cares for its members like bais shmuel!!!!!
Moishy, please dont give up, keep trying….i will see u yom kipper….

if you have made it all the way down here, you must be a member…good on you!
bais shmuel is an amazing shul in every aspect.
it has a great sense of community, love, support, learning, kindness etc.
I would like to say that nothing is perfect includeing bais shmuel, and mostly because they actually accept and love YOU for who you trully are…….thank g-d for a place like bais herring in the shechuna!

as a person who recently joined beis shmuel ,I would like to say what a gr8 shul it is and what a gr8 community it is ,unfortunately we live in a community of crown heights that does not give a rats a.. about one another and now finally we have a shul to go to that that looks to help one another ,give chizuk ,shiurim etc every week there is another cause that all are asked to donate too whether it is a children with special needs ,colel chabad or just a simple Russian bochur who needs money to make… Read more »
one angle of this that I notice is that all those negative comments…..are PASSIVE. They communicate very little, and accomplish just about nothing. Therefore, just what HAVE you accomplished. Criticizing the Rebbe’s DIAMONDS who , like each of us, are “a work in progress”…is about YOU, wasting your own time accomplishing NOTHING. So sorry to tell you that you have ineffectively done NOTHING with your criticism and negativity. I appreciated 15, 56,118, 120 comments, and a few others. If the Rebbe loves us all and believes fully that we’re all living the inyon of “bchol dor ve dor chayav adam… Read more »

I don’t live in CH, but if I did I would daven in Bais Smuel, sounds like an awesome place…
I assume you are a man? Why are you peaking at our skirts. Well I am sure you have a need to. Let me tell you there were very very very few short skirts. As one of the commentors said above – no beards on the womans side.
So if you were at our event I am afraid that you sat on the wrong side. But I am still not sure whos skirt you were looking at.
Take it easy and stop knocking other kosher people!
Dovi: I congratulate you for putting your name and standing up for what is right in a time when innocent, pro rebbe event is being knocked by within.
Note I softened my tone as I am sure that those negative commentors already did teshuva
What do the woman look like? Does it bother you that they wear shaitels? Does it bother you that some wear nail polish (I was told that the rebbetzin wore nail polish, but never saw)? What is the problem?
Were you even there. For the most part all women were tznius. Are you one of those mothers who doesn’t let their kids go to manhattan as they may see a leg?
If you were there, say what the problem was, if you were not there please say “I don’t know what I’m talking about”
I support what you said, and further feel that we all need a place to cal home and a community
to Blumes, Minkwoitz, Gross and everyone else who signed thier names kol hakavod
In unison with #132 Ive noticed that there are absolutely no community politics at Bais Shmuel. They look up to Merkos and the Rabbonim of the shechuna.
everyone should take a deep look at themselves and just worry about themselves. Hashem is very proud of Beis Shmuel it’s a shul that’s united and at peace always getting together and inspiring one another and making
beautiful progrms .every shul should learn from them how to be united and how much love they have for thier shul it’s really beautiful. and that’s all Hashem wants to see is his children at peace .
Sorry i was not the one who deserves the all Credit goes to the boys Starting with Moshe Pinson

Response to comment # 74 And I quote” giving tsedakah and having money doesn’t give anyone the right to look like a goy “etc. unquote. And you mention as to how the Rebbe would want us to dress comparing the right and wrong to Boro Park and Williamsburg. My response: A GOY??????????? Are you retarded? Are you not mortified? Are you not ashamed? (Evidently not since you are one of the cowards hiding behind a pen name) Stating such a reckless remark that is conflicting to the Rebbes line of thought and action?! Identifying a fellow Jew as a GOY?!… Read more »
stop focusing on 1 or 2 women who are not tznius- they DO NOT represent the entire female population of Bais Shmuel.

until the women stop looking the way they do, my husband and sons arent going to get to participate in all your wonderful activities!
It’s obvious that those that are writing these negative comments feel left out. And so as an elder of Bais Shmuel. I would like to invite the naysayers to come and join our beautiful minyan, come and feel the love. And stay for the Kiddush.

Its just a reflection of your insecurities. The evening was beautiful. Sadly you call yourself a chossid.
I was there 3 weeks ago shabbos and the talking was just beyond reality…
Shluchim bring there baale Batium to many shuls in ch not just BS
and sadly they fit in to the bais shmuel crowd more that a real shul
and maybe you daven there just because your a fund raiser and its worth your time to daven there for the crowd..
also you are much to frum for that place…
WoW Beis Shmuel should make such events more often
if this is what kind of response they’re receiving.
UNBELIEVABLE!!
Fun dir shprotst di chochmo!!!
So when is the next time this horrible event will take place. I want to be sure to hide my children and family from the atrocities taking place at these events. Its horrible. Shul, Shiurim, A RABBI!, its all very scary. I may need to move back to Miami where things are clean, kosher, Sunny and secular away from the zealots of Bais Shmuel and thier leaders who try and influence these good common folk into thier twisted ways of thinking. Minyan, Tzedaka, Community Involvement, Shiurim.
A Floridian Ben Shliach, Now Bais Shmuel Member.
I did not know noach was the man behind this great event but knowing noach he’s 1 guy that does not need his name in lights
Thank you very much Rabbi Noach
on behalf of everyone who attended the event, i would like to give hakoros hatov to Noach Heber he spent sleepless nights putting together this spectacular melava malka.. thank you noach!! you are the best
Is there somewhere that says that the issur chamur of lashon hara, especially in writing, is superceded by the importance of expressing your superior frumkeit? If there is something to keep far from your children, it is these ridiculously callous and offensive comments, which (a) display a total lack of yiras shamayim and consideration for the laws of lashon hara, (b) are completely inconsiderate to the people referred to in them, who are likely reading this trash, and (c) are downright stupid. How can you straightfacedly claim to be concerned with Rebbe’s message and post an outright attack on members… Read more »

The CH Shliach Moishe Pinson pulled off yet another beautiful event!! If we had more like him the world would be a better place!!
the event that was held the other night was not only beautiful and entertaining but spiritually uplifting as well. This shul has touched the lives of so many families and have brought together so many different types of people who would normally not have anything to do with each other. The constant involvement and Ahavas yisroel shown there is overwhelming. Thank you to all involved for you constant time and effort.
an honored member.
Thanks you for all those who put together such a beautiful event. We appreciate all you have done for us and for this community. We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful shul.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about, what do you expect to see in these pictures? Everybody knows that Bais Shmuel is for the more “modern” elements of our community. They do not represtent mainstream anash so why are so many people feeling threatened or bothered by their little party?
As a member of Beis Shmuel for almost 4 years, I can only say their motto should be “Yailchu mi’chayil el Chayil” because that is what they do in all aspects of yiddishkeit and chassishkeit and Ahavas Yisroel Talking in Shul They have noticeably tackled the issue of talking during davening, constantly reminding and dealing with the issue many times, and succeeding Shiurei Torah As for Shiurei Torah, they have increased double triple and many times over in the past few years, to the point of having difficulty adding any more since almost every night it taken Ahavas Yisroel It… Read more »

The boys with out the beards were korbonos from the current system. Bais Shmuel has a lot of love for every yid. Bais Shmuel is the only place where it is possible for us who were abused in the system to grow.

When you talk about the members with out beards you speaking about the men or woman? I see that 90-95 percent of the male members have beards.
Bais Shmuel members that are ba’alei Tzaedaka should be proud of themselves, but it is shocking that several of the comments are written by people who try to use this Tzedaka giving to show that these ba’lei Tzedaka are better than others. It happens to be that many members of Bais Shmuel are in business and their financial status in general may be better than others. Tzedaka is a chiuv, and a Mitzva. It would only be fare to say that those who are critical of this event are not merely jealous, but feel threatened by the secular influences that have entered our community. however as a longtime Mechanech I would suggest that we reach out to our more Modern brothers and sistes and warm them up with ‘Chassidishe Varimkeit” while holding on to our values, and then we will be be able to be Mashpia on them.Otherwise we are just bringing more friction to our community which will hurt us and our children. its funny to actually sit back and see that all the “fry” (no beards/ non tznius) are the do gooders and all the “frumies” (long beards/ long skirts) are the haters, how ironic
It is a great honor and pleasure to be a part of such a dynamic, empowering and vivacious shul! Last nights event really showed that no matter what the comments would be the following morning, expected of course, we keep our heads up high knowing we are good people doing good things, and to those who try and knock us, the harder you hit, the more powerful is our comeback…so keep’em coming because its the haters who make us come back with more, the far better more! Dovi, your reaction is a clear indication that this issue is important in your life and hopefully will go a ways in coming to the correct conclusion. no need to change the subject. to compare an individuel who is merely pointing out an important issue in our chabad lubavitch community today, to those who would destroy the momentum and drive for Moshiach, is silly and unfare. a major positive of websites such as collive is that it allows a forumn for chasidim to comment to one another, in a kind and positive way, as to how we can create a… Read more »

To 24 and 19 do you know what the Rebbe says about loving your fellow Jew, chapter 32(heart in Tanya) more important than many commandments. I looked all women had clothes on .we believe in changing people by educating them on an academic level with love and respect. Not having their men telling them what to do .
Please everyone….have a cup of coffee…or some chocholate…whatever makes you happy…and when your calm…just think about all the good things the shul does…
1) my husband never ran to shiurim like he does since we joined this shull.
2) There is alot of tzedoko given (quietly) that most ppl dont know about.
I could go on and on, but im sure once you have had some caffeine in your body you will realize that if you just look at things positively you will see there is great things going on in the shull.

The picture showing the mechitzah was taken from the top of a staircase therefore it seems shorter than it really was. It was taller than any standing adult and it ran along the whole walkway to the men’s section. You really could not see into the other side.
with love!!
The picture showing the mechitzah was taken from the top of a staircase
To all Bais Shmuel critics who have no guts to write your name you should be a shamed of your self BAIS SHMUEL is place that the rebbe is proud of its a place of doing unlike you people who just post comments on the chabad web site kapotas beard and what ever else you feel you can higher your self by not doing WHO helps a Russian bocher who need help to make his wedding this week BAIS SHMUEL MEMBERS!! do you know the shita of Reb Moshe Feinsteins mechitsa that you announce you that it was enough??
Did you read the Rebbs Teshuvos about the hight and density of a proper michitza??!!!
Bais Shmuel is a community, and now we are becoming a family, we don’t judge family, we enjoy each others company. We take strength from each other. And only good comes from this Shul. Other shuls can come take a lesson from us. How many Shiurim does your Shul have, How much money did you raise in your shul last week For Ashkelon, Did you have a Choson collecting for his wedding in your shul, being brought around By your President? Stop knocking my family! Get involved in something positive, and you will stop knocking other people.
where is Duddy Farkash
Every shul has the ones who are less chassidish/more chassidish. Women who are tznius and women who are not. So why is the focus here so much on the negative? I think because the more good there is, the more people try to bash it, bais shmuel wife- you definitely have a point, I think there’s a bit of jealousy that makes pple say the negative. Also- there are plenty of tznius women in the shul…let the pics speak for themselves, most of them are average crown heightsers, but the ones who stick out naturally are the ones who may… Read more »
job well done dont mention names bec there are a few more pple who deserve credit atleast name all of them
bais shmuel did an amazing job !!! yes its true some men should really stop trimming and maybe tell there wifes to put on some clothes otherwise its a great shul!
I was there and had a great time- I am a woman by the way – and appreciated having a beautiful evening out with my husband. To all you worried about the mechitzah- it was perfectly acceptable according to halachah.
Go MOSHE PINSON and the rest of Bais Shmuel- You Rock!!
Great event!!
Go MOSHE PINSON and the rest of Bais Shmuel- You Rock!!
Do you think one normal lubab feels jealous to be a member in shul that has no tznius and talks all davening and 99% come just for a kidush and talk all davening till the kidush,,,
I want my son and daughter to daven in a SHUL!! not a lodge or party room….
If they want that kind of shul then wait to see what there kids will look like…
Moshe, continue your great work!!! May you be Matzliach in all you do.
I would like to thank Mony ,Moshe Pinson,Moshe Rosenfield,Yochanan Brook ,Rabbi YY Jacobson and Maggie Rogatsky ,for creating a event that the Rebbe would have felt at home with his chassidism in either section. 1 This is the only time I went to a dinner or Melava Malka where the only honorees where the Kitchen staff. 2 A group of guys stood up with the Rabbi and sung the polltuvher niggin . 3 A did a nice vort on the parsha . 4 No one played cards ,a guy used cards for some tricks . 5 The love in the… Read more »
to the negative pple… you’re just so upset that you’re not part of it… deep down you know that you would of love to be there… c’mon just admit it…. u feel left out…
THERE IS A SOLUTION TO YOUR DISTRESS… BECOME A MEMBER!
and now that way u wont have to deal with your constant feelings of putting pple down to make yourself feel better and higher…
hayitochein , so many people touch there beards!!!
Last nights event was spectacular. It was elegant, fun and every one had a great time. Once again Bais Shmuel has been there for its members , for its community. Unfortunately there will always be the jealous, unfulfilled individuals who feel the need to criticize- such as poster #6. So to ” A bittersweet evening” all I can say is start focusing on the positive aspects of people and events and you might just find yourself being a nicer person to be around instead of a miserable old soul. To Bais shmuel, Moshe , Mony, Mendy, Yochonan, Ari, Avremi and… Read more »
Ive never been to Bais Shmuel, but it seems like they do a great job to get their members involved in getting together for various types of events, and all seem beautiful and very positive. But why is it that there are always certain people who feel the need to point out something negative. Do you think that your post will help them become more like you? I highly doubt it. There are all types of people on all different levels; and just because you would not do what they may do, there is no need to bash them at… Read more »
Thank you, You will cause this post to be looked at again and again to see what bored ppl like you have to say about any good productive thing that bais shmuel and other good ppl and org’s do. There is nothing wrong with the mechitza but there is something wrong with you who is looking to find a problem,l with something they were not involved with. Bais shmule (did not only have a mechitza there) had two completely separate everything not just mechitza and if the fact that the mechitza does not look like a old shbby thing from… Read more »
each person should daven in other shuls and they will see how real shuls look and behave.
Send some to the Kolel SHul and see how quiet it is all davening even the kids..
Send some to Shains etc…
If all the of same kinds of guys cling together they will never see a real shul or behave like the Rebbe wanted…
It looks more like a Lodge or a club RL than a shul
keep up the great work
dovi and moni– kapote ? good, i’m surprised you didn’t complain about the trimmed beards. There’s always something to complain about.
zm- vos is naies? beard…
g’luck.
Bs”d Bais Shmuel does many very special things and arranges lots of farbrengens for it’s members which have a good attendance rate. In many areas, other shuls can learn from them. They are in constant contact with their members through e-mails and encourage them to come to events. We must remember that “ha’maase hu haikar”-when it comes down to it -learning is very important, but one’s actual actions are what count the most. The mechitza that a shul has at a social event needs to be the same mechitza that they would have in their shul during davening. The mechitza… Read more »

It was a great evening, put together so nicely. Nice atmosphere, great band. Here’s to good times for klal yisroel.
justs looks like they are having a good time, Yiddeshe Mama??!! / Korten Motzei Shabbos??!! / !/2 men without beards and kapotes??!! I even heard the “RABBI?REBBE” just sang grammen as to not offend the enjoyable evening with to much heavy Divrei Toorah and Ma’ase Tzaddikim. and to top it all there was not even Kartofel and Herring
Nu Nu at least the men and women were seperate.
Nice Pictures
