Let’s face it, running a school in the middle of a pandemic is hard. Being a parent with children learning online is hard. Not knowing when you will get your next paycheck is hard.
An understatement.
Yet, amidst these current challenges, Bais Rivkah has dedicated itself to its students and staff, overcoming the financial odds and keeping all teacher’s pay up to date by securing the PPP (Payment Protection Program) grant. All funds from this grant have been spent to keep Bais Rivkah teachers at Bais Rivkah―giving them sustainability amidst sudden turmoil.
With the sudden closures of other Chabad schools in Crown Heights and an influx of children of shluchim’s families, Bais Rivkah has been forced to rapidly adapt, expanding its current capacity to meet the needs of families left stranded without a place for their children to learn.
The school has also spent an overwhelming amount of $150,000 to meet Covid safety standards and protocols, to ensure every student’s health and the health of their families.
Let’s face it, Bais Rivkah continues to persevere against all challenges because of the strength of its community and the individuals, who give their all, to ensure its future.
Let’s face it, Bais Rivkah is a community school. And, as a community school, one of its functions is to be there for its people in times of crisis and make education affordable for all.
Let’s face it, Bais Rivkah cannot face it alone. To succeed, it will launch a campaign to raise $770,000 at charidy.com/br on November 16-17. The campaign will celebrate the many faces of Bais Rivkah, past, present and future―the ones who make success happen by helping the school face every challenge.
Right now, 53.26% of families at Bais Rivkah receive more than a 50% scholarship, with 15.39% of families receiving a hefty 75% scholarship.
Community support is critical. Donations to this campaign will support five high impact projects in the coming year:
– Emergency scholarships ($300,000) – Helping families who have experienced a loss of income/emergency family situations, requiring extreme scholarships.
– 10 New water fountains throughout both buildings ($10,000 total at $1,000 a fountain)
– Extra-curricular programs ($114,000 at $1,500 a program) – Special initiatives, Rosh Chodesh/Chassidishe Yomim tovim not funded by the government.
– New Classrooms ($200,000 at $54,000 a classroom) – Nine of which have already completed construction.
Renovate the Lunch Room ($146,000)
Together, united by the common bond of our Torah and Chassidus values, in a school that was established by the Frierdiker Rebbe and is under the leadership of our Rebbe, we can face anything.
