A perpetrator was arrested after attacking a young Orthodox Chassidic Jewish man during a road rage incident on Sunday afternoon in Crown Heights.
The incident took place near Carroll Street and Albany Avenue when the perpetrator drove recklessly and attempted to overtake the victim’s car, ultimately crashing into it.
When the victim stopped and exited his vehicle, the perpetrator charged at him and began to viciously assault him. The perpetrator then falsely claimed that he was attacked by the victim.
Volunteers from Crown Heights Shmira successfully defused the situation and contacted the NYPD. Following a thorough investigation by Shmira and the NYPD, the perpetrator was arrested and charged with assault and reckless driving. Shmira was able to obtain video that corroborated the victim’s testimony. The video showed the perpetrator crash into the victim’s car, exit his vehicle, and viciously attack the innocent victim.
Additionally, this morning at approximately 10 AM, Shmira received a call about a missing individual with Down Syndrome. While some Shmira volunteers searched the surrounding areas, others checked security camera footage and successfully spotted her boarding the wrong school bus. After identifying the bus, Shmira contacted the school organization and she was reunited a short time later.
Shmira urges the community to install security cameras on their properties. If you cannot afford a camera system, contact Shmira to inquire about eligibility for a discounted installation.
Please be aware of your surroundings. In case of an emergency, call 911 and Shmira 24/7 at 718-221-0303.

They always claim to be the victims after attacking Jews.
Lack of self control, lack of rational communication skills, and lack of consequences will do that. The current governing bodies wish to enable their behavior by giving them a free pass. This creature, who no doubt has assaulted others in the past, will be out yet again on the streets courtesy of NYC.
Need to sue him for every penny he’s worth.
That will make a difference
There are MTA buses that will be assigned on a brand new busy MTA/City bus route on Albany Avenue starting in early 2025, this was voted on and approved by Brooklyn Community Board 9 last year. This will obviously cause much more traffic jams, gridlock & road range incidents, not to mention as the new CHJCC vaad said this threatens the safety of ULY students crossing the most busy Crown & Albany street. As dozens of students and parents wait by Crown/Albany corner.. What can Lubavitchers do to get Community Board 9 to halt this dangerous & reckless (and potentially… Read more »
Many in our community use the MTA to get to work or anywhere else in the city. What is wrong with having an additional route. If you feel unsafe perhaps you should avoid Kingston Avenue where the B43 bus travels or Troy Avenue where the B17 bus travels and many Bochurim use to get from Mesivta at 555 Remsen Avenue to and from crown Heights, or Nostrand/New York where the B44 goes and many in the community use to get to Williamsburg or Midwood. Why would a bus traveling on Albany Avenue threaten the safety of ULY students at Crown… Read more »
that the MTA also comes with some bad characters that we don’t really need our kids meeting up with
