A ferocious nor’easter storm could wreak more havoc on areas hit hardest by Superstorm Sandy, as plunging temperatures threaten the nearly two million homes and businesses that remain without power in the Northeast.
The nor’easter is expected to hit on Wednesday in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The National Weather Service says the storm system could bring colder temperatures, wind, rain and even snow to areas recovering from Superstorm Sandy.
The cold weather which settled in across the New York metropolitan area compounded the misery Sunday for people already struggling with widespread gasoline shortages and power outages in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
With temperatures dipping into the 30s overnight and about 700,000 homes and businesses in New York City, its northern suburbs and Long Island still without electricity six days after the storm, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned that many homes are becoming uninhabitable and that tens of thousands of people are going to need other places to stay.
Cuomo says officials expect the fuel shortage that has led to long lines and short tempers to continue for days.
He said Sunday that authorities aren’t “100 percent sure” when the shortage will end but that it’s a short-term problem.
Cuomo says the fuel delivery and distribution problems are easing and that more gas is coming to the area and will be distributed. Meanwhile, he urges people to not use their cars if they don’t have to and not to hoard fuel.

You can say that this storm was just a once in a lifetime occurence. But, we now have another big storm coming our way! Oh no, even an athiest will have to admit… Read more »
