Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, currently in the thick of international affairs after the UN Security Council vote, was honored by Lubavitch Youth Organization this week.
The organization’s executive director Rabbi Shmuel Butman invited Danon to kindle the iconic “Largest Menorah in the World” located on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Danon came with his children for them to witness the special celebration that drew many onlookers and media crews.
“We had a tough week at the U.N., but rabbi, like the Lubavitcher Rebbe told us, the U.N. is a house of darkness, but we are going to light a candle at the U.N. like we are going to light a candle here,” he said before the lighting.
“I want to say a blessing to everybody, we are going to be strong like the Maccabiim, and we will prevail. Chanukah sameach to everybody.”
It was heartwarming that the Rebbe’s words resonate constantly and are perpetually followed, Rabbi Butman noted.
To fulfill the Rebbe’s recommendation/ instruction to build hundreds of new cities and towns all over Eretz Yisroel and to do so quickly and with strength. Those who don’t like it, can (to quote Yasser Arafat) can drink Gaza seawater.
Hashgacha Protis??!!
Maybe post every day of this beautiful Menorah Lighting, even just a few pics… I heard many important dignitaries lit every day, but we don’t know who.
