Aliya is very proud to put the spotlight on their alumni as honorees for the upcoming Gala Dinner and matchers for the Charidy fundraising campaign.
“Many of our members started as young teens looking for connection and acceptance. As they made their way into Aliya they quickly realized that this is more than just a shul, it is a community. Open for anyone who is seeking some form of connection or looking for genuine acceptance and support, Aliya has been the safe space for our own,” says Rabbi Moishe Feiglin, Director.
Mordy Fink has been a part of the Aliya family from the beginning years. From the beginning he knew that this place would be the reason behind who he would become.
“The impact Aliya has had on me these past 18 years has shaped me into the person I am today. Not only has it shaped me into a better person, but it has been humbling to witness the effect that Aliya has on the youth of Crown Heights and beyond. Some young adults arrive at Aliya without a roof over their heads and after joining Aliyah they begin putting on Tefillin every day, coming every Shabbos to farbregens and encouraging their friends to participate as well,” Fink says.
“Many have started families of their own and continue being members of Aliya. Aliya is not an optional organization, Aliya is vital for our community and the youth that it serves. I’m very proud to be a honoree at Aliyas Dinner and encourage you to partner with Aliya and the incredible work that they do!”
From the early years, Lavie Popack discovered himself through finding Aliya and appreciating what was offered to him.
“Growing up, I learned that it’s ok to not fit into a specific mold. In fact, there can actually be beauty in crafting your own mold. However, to do it in a healthy way requires guidance and a cultivating environment. This is what Rabbi Moshe Feiglin provides with the Aliya Organization. I have deep respect and admiration for Moshe’s dedication and truly believe in Aliya’s mission.
I am proud to be a honoree and campaign matcher and can not implore you enough to do the same,” Popack says.
“It is so important for people to know about Aliya and the difference that it makes to people’s lives,” said Mendy Boaron. “Growing up I always felt that Chabad was there for everyone else around the world but who is helping us with our own? Aliya is the one spot who accepts us for who we are, it does not matter what we are wearing or if we are keeping Shabbos. There is constant support coming from the Rabbis and a sense of belonging. Aliya is the one place who accepts the youth for who they are. It is the only place in the world who looks out for their own. I completely agree with Aliya’s mission and the way they execute it. I am very proud to be a supporter of Aliya and have the ability to give back,” he says.
The event will begin with a mikva ribbon cutting at Aliya followed by their gala dinner and concert at Beis Rivkah 507 East New York Ave, on Sunday, December 11, 17 Kislev at 7:00 PM.
