The 2011 AIPAC Annual Northeast Regional Dinner took place Monday at the Hilton New York with many political leaders and community activists in attendance.
Faithful to their role of strengthening bi-partisan support for Israel, the gala dinner featured the Congress rivals Eric Cantor, Republican Majority Leader and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer.
Beginning with a cocktail reception (all kosher), participants has a chance to shmooze over the possible effects of the uprising in Egypt and the rest of the Arab world on Israel.
Anong the guests were Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Chairman Zaki Tamir and his liaison for intergovernmental relations Chanina Sperlin.
U.S. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY 11) was there with her community liaison Eli Slavin of Crown Heights.
Also seen was Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale in New York; Councilman David Greenfield, and Willie Rapfogel, executive director of Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty.
In other news, AIPAC has hired a new spokesman, Ari Goldberg, currently the spokesman for the U.S. government overseas broadcaster Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
