As the days of Awe are shortly upon us, and we begin our quest of renewing our bond with Hashem, we are confronted with the decision of where to spend these days of holiness.
Mostly we are in search of meaningful prayer service, beautiful melodies, and of course tight camaraderie. This sounds relatively simple but as we all know, finding all three is harder than it sounds.
“Essentially, it would be like having your apple, dipping it in honey, and eating it too” said E., a local resident of Crown Heights.
Ever since their inception way back in December of 2010 CAY has grown to a steady crowd of several hundred attendees every Shabbos and several thousand more visitors over the span of their nine month existence.
What attracts all these folk to CAY? Perhaps one might say the rare and unique combination of meaningful prayer, beautiful song and good folk.
“And also Ruach,” said Chezzi Denebeim, Rabbi of the Shul. Ruach translates as vibe or spirit in modern parlance. “Plenty of Ruach,” added Denebeim.
CAY will be holding services for Rosh Ha’Shana and Yom Kippur this year where they will employ the wisdom and expertise of venerated guest teacher Rabbi Simon Jacobson to optimize the already stellar experience. Rav Simon will introduce the different Tefilos and provide deep insight by way of anecdotes and short stories. It goes without saying that the singing will literally blow your mind. That’s a hard fact.
Another fact is that you’d better reserve a seat now before they’re all sold out. As a matter of policy, CAY’s doors are held wide open for any and all Yids, all the time. This does not guarantee you an actual seat, however. That can be done through reservation alone.

At least you understood a straight question when you read it. #7 needs to lose the anger…as you said, let’s see some Ahavas Yisrael, especially in Elul.
#4
Are you nuts???? I asked a simple question…obviously, too simple for you. How would I know where they daven now?
Very defensive, aren’t you. I wonder why.
signed #4
took the words out of my mouth, #4 you sound really upset, channel ur negative feelings by doing good deeds!
It’s an awesome shul! I know Chezzi is great, and Yosef does a lot for the shul! Good luck!
It ain’t for everyone. If it was, no room would be large enough.
If it or “modern” – whatever that means to you – makes you uncomfotable, it would probably be best you find a shul in which you do feel comfortable.
i am totally gonna daven there for the Yomim Nora’im
I don’t know why, I just got a bit of a modern vibe. Granted I did go on Purim night when everyone was dressed up, but still.
I think it’s amazing though for people who would otherwise not go to shul. Maybe I should give it another try. We’ll see. (19 y/o girl)
I was once sitting in CAY during a beautiful and inspiring davening and I thought “if only our youth were presented with yiddishkeit in this way there would be a lot more of them staying in the community.
why all the negativity all number 4 was asking was a simple question, you could have answered like the name sake of the shul with an answer-with ahavas yisroel!
Beis Levi Yitschak has been having chabad house style minyanim for years.
chaya today!!
Keep it up
through CAY it will penetrate a ahvos yisroel that the whole world will gain and moshiach will come
from PS
You just prove how poorly informed and ignorant people are, relying on rumors and loshon hara to spread negativity in the name of righteousness.
CAY has not been at Mimulo for months! They are located in the large basement of Moshe Rubashkin’s home on President St.
They have grown tremendously and accomplished a lot. They also had choshuve rabbonim and shluchim daven with them, like the dayan Harav Shlomo Segal and others.
To Chezzi and Chaya, yelchu mechayil el chayil!!
its yanky komar
i love mendy denebeim, he is the most wonderful bal koreh , i dont know what the shul would do with out mendy. (from chicago)
How do you fit hundreds every Shabbos into the flower store on Albany?
best shul ever
Wow is that Yanky Komar!!
Yanky!
