Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, Chairman of the umbrella group Agudas Chasidei Chabad International, is traveling to Israel to address the largest gathering of students of Chabad Yeshivas there.
He will be spending this coming Shabbos in the chassidic village of Kfar Chabad in central Israel with close to 1,500 bochurim who will be gathering as a preparation for Gimmel Tammuz, the Rebbe‘s yartzeit.
The events, which will culminate in a grand Melave Malka after Shabbos, are being organized by the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim organization in cooperation with the hanhalos of the Chabad Yeshivos.
“We gather as one, with achdus of chassidim, to be inspired in learning nigleh and chassidus – especially in the Rebbe’s Torah – and to add in davening and the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim to hasten the coming of Moshiach,” organizers said.
Rabbi Shemtov, one of the senior Shluchim in the United States who was entrusted by the Rebbe with various missions and roles, will be joined by leading Roshei Yeshiva and mashpiim.
He is expected back in New York for Gimmel Tammuz, when he traditionally reads the general ‘pan’ letter of the chassidim to the Rebbe and holds the Central Gimmel Tammuz Farbrengen at Campus Comesh in Crown Heights.
His last trip to Israel was in 2008.
