A Special Bar Mitzvah

With a menu including pizza and cotton candy, it was a Bar Mitzvah unlike any other.

There might not have been a Pilpul, but the Bar Mitzvah boy and his friends enjoyed a magic show.

Instead of the crowd of Bochurim you might be accustomed to seeing at a Bar Mitzvah, Mendy Lipszyc celebrated his Bar Mitzvah with his friends; 150 Friendship Circle children and volunteers.

After touring the Jewish Children’s Museum, enjoying a delicious lunch and a fantastic magic show, the celebrants sang and danced together accompanied by Yossi Frankel, who gave each child a copy of his cd as well.

“It was a magical day,” said Friendship Circle director, Chaya Eckhaus. “Mendy’s parents understood how their son would truly enjoy his special day, and they gave him a day he will never forget.”

Mendy is not the only one who thought the day unforgettable.

“To see all the Friendship Circle children celebrating together was amazing,” said Leah, a Friendship Circle volunteer. “They epitomized true happiness. They were having so much fun, without a care in the world. The only thing that mattered was Mendy and his Bar Mitzvah. I learned a lot about how to be truly happy for others from them.”

It may not have been a regular Bar Mitzvah, but it was an emotional experience that touched the hearts of all that participated.

Later that evening, Mendy had a Bar Mitzvah Seudah with a Hachnosas Sefer Torah in Honor of his Bar Mitzvah.
