After spending much time learning all about Shabbos, campers attending Camp Gan Israel of Simcha Monica were treated to a grand Shabbaton.
For some campers, it was their first “real” Shabbos! In anticipation for the Shabbaton, the campers did many preparatory activities which included making Kiddush cups, Challah boards, Challah, cholent, and much more.
On Friday, they were taken by the staff to a busy area to do a scavenger hunt which turned out to be … Mivtza Tefillin! The camper’s efforts were proved to be successful as many men rolled up their sleeves to put on Tefillin.
The group then spent a most memorable Shabbos with their staff and director and the Simcha Monica community, which included Davening, learning, games, chassidishe stories, and much more.
The campers returned home with their parents, imbuing their homes with the spirit of Shabbos as well.
