Over a thousand people gathered for the 30th annual “Dancing in the Streets” Simchas Beis Hashoeva at Congregation Bnei Ruven on the second night of Chol Hamoed.
Moshe Tischler headlined the event sponsored by Jewel-Osco and organized by Rabbi Baruch Hertz and Rabbi Moshe Elya Markowitz.
The beloved annual Children’s Concert kicked off the celebration, where the crowd was treated to a lively performance by Moshe Tischler and a favorite tradition—the Jesse White Tumblers, who have delighted the community for many years. Their coach recalled tumbling in this very event 20 years ago and commented on the kindness of the Jewish community. Retired Secretary of State Jesse White who has attended many times called to send his regards.
The evening concert kicked off with a special performance by the Arie Crown Boys Choir, followed by a grand performance where Moshe Tischler was joined by talented New York musicians—pianist Craig Travis Resmovits and guitarist Mordechai Chaimovitz—as well as Chicago’s Mesamechai Leiv Orchestras.
Thanks to R’ Bentzie Friedman and R’ Aaron Kaplan who arranged for the farbrengen with a few hundred people from all parts of the community to continue in the sukkah long into the night. Eli Marcus, in town for another event, joined in with Moshe Tischler and many leading Rabbonim were in attendance. Rabbi Hertz ran the farbrengen. Words were also shared by Rabbi Yaakov Robinson of Agudath Israel, Rabbi Ephraim Twerski—prominent Rav in the city, Rabbi Hirsch Unger—Rosh Kollel, and R’ Nesanel Gantz. It was a beautiful showing of achdus.
